About this listen

What stops you winning and performing at your best? Your ego.

Your ego ensures you get in the way of yourself when you're doing something important: whether you're preparing for school exams, taking your driving test, playing sport, speaking in public or making a business presentation. Whatever you do, your ego is sure to interfere with your performance.

We all have egos: it's our natural defence system which is triggered when we experience strong emotions such as anxiety and fear. Steven Sylvester's inspiring and ground-breaking approach focuses on a brand new approach to winning. He believes the pursuit of winning, like smoking, should come with a Government Health Warning - it can seriously damage your health.

This is a journey of self-discovery, a process that enables you to build self-esteem and have a higher degree of freedom when performing. In DETOX YOUR EGO, Sylvester shares for the very first time the seven easy steps to be freer, happier and more successful in your life.

Good advise however could be said in a shorter matter. Narrator is monotone during the hole book.

Struggled to finish it. Lost interest in first few chapters. Narrator was flat. Struggled to keep myself awake.

the narrator has beautiful English.
I love the points that the author brought out about the ego. he explains the reason for unhappiness clearly, which motivates me to follow the steps to happiness and peace in this life. in chapter 14, I saw clearly where my unhappiness began, and at the same time gave me hope and direction to a happier future. thank you for this great book.

great book by a psychologist

It's more of an autobiographical take on one athlete's approach to cricket than any sort of insightful psychological perspective of ego. For instance a chapter titled "Dealing with Adversity" walks us through how the author faced adversity in a cricket match, and ends with asking "how do you deal with adversity?" This is junior high school level self- help. Rubbish.
