About this listen
Sport psychologist Dr Josephine Perry spends her life working with exceptional performers. She has identified ten psychological pillars that the ultra-successful have ingrained within their approach. And the good news is that we can all learn these mental building blocks.
In this book you’ll hear those who have excelled in their field discussing their route to success and learn how you can emulate them. It’s time to stop second-guessing yourself and start building the qualities that will make you an authentic, amazing leader. In the past century, women have scaled new heights in the workplace. From working as clerks and secretaries in the 1950s, women today are now holding top positions in the world’s largest corporations. Yet, women remain vastly underrepresented in leadership roles, making up only five percent of Fortune 500 CEOs, and 10 percent of top management positions in S&P 1500 companies, despite accounting for 47 percent of the labor workforce.

Easy listening, loads of nuggets of wisdom.
Like revisiting creat conversations with favorite teachers and friends. I will definitely listen to this book again!! From woodworking to grafting, this has been with me through a tough winter when my hands were occupied and I was in the perfect mood for such a book. I like that it was written and recorded through the pandemic, as well. Top timing. Thanks!

Define Success Is Key
Nice book. I enjoyed it. Defining success is key to being successful. Most people spend little time thinking about why they want what they want and what it means when they achieve it

Performance psychology for all.
Having studied sport psychology as a part of my degree I’ve ways found it an interesting subject. The challenge is to find material that is neither severely academically challenging (pure text book,) nor a simplistic ‘how to guide’.
Taking themes of performance psychology and positioning them in real world settings across a range of settings makes this enjoyable, light hearted and accessible. Most importantly, not just for sports people! It seems obvious in hindsight but ‘performance’ can be found everywhere and these concepts are just as applicable in every setting. At work, on stage, even cooking dinner for your family.
This is a meta analysis that has been packaged for everyone to understand and, potentially, find something of themselves hidden inside.
Don’t read it if you want definitive answers. Do read it if you want to understand a little more about what makes people ‘tick’.

Nothing new or groundbreaking
There is no 10, 7, or 3 anything that will make you successful. Humans are complicated and our environment, relationships, and challenges will make a life that is easier or harder than the next person.
The 10 Pillars of success is a cookie cutter, positive self-help psy-pop that would have been better if it were written in the 80s.
It’s at best a collection of motivational stories that does very little to dive deep into the root of what makes someone successful or how to navigate the complexities of life to become successful.
Nothing in the book was new, refreshing, or delivered in an interesting way. I really don’t enjoy leaving critical reviews but I hope the author really sinks into the subject and pulls out some real insights to success in her next book and leave this one behind.

Accessible, compelling, and inspired
Whether performance coaching is new to you or old hat, this book contains some brilliant, evidence-based insights into human psychology that are actionable for any individual striving toward something.
Dr. Perry's writing is beautifully (and conveniently) accessible such that I find myself wanting to take notes on her style, write down quotes, and somehow tag the content for future use. I've even found myself pausing and rewinding the book regularly in order to relive (or write down) particularly insightful ideas and concepts. The author and interviewees' honesty is refreshing, and the audiobook format is made for this type of work. Overall, this audiobook is a wonderfully executed guide to life and success, written with precision and passion, that is brought to life through the narration and interviews. As a psychologist and neuroscientist, I'm incredibly glad to have stumbled upon this gem and plan to share it widely.

don't buy
This "book" is just pablum repackaged for unimaginative try-hards. there are no new insights to be found, nothing clever to be heard, just the sound of a dead horse bring beat to a pulp. I suppose Ms. Perry couldn't afford to turn down the commission for composing this tripe, but she really should have. To be bluntly honest, if you're the sort of person who finds this book enlightening and useful, you are not going to succeed in life. If you're already successful, this book will be amusing for being alternately obvious and wrong. The fundamental thesis of the book is built on ignoring luck (or, more accurately, taking is role for granted in order to look at variables you can control), but since luck is integral to everyone's life, it's a bit thick to relegate it to the background, or to carry on as if the ten pillars can even possibly overcome it. In short, this book breeds discontent and serves as propaganda for big business who wants nothing more than a class of strivers who believe so strongly in determinism that they can't be dissuaded from trying hard, no matter the cost to themselves.

Repetitive
this one wasn't for me, it was repetitive and I felt some of the ideas were skewed to fit into the authors little box of ideals that they believed in rather than what scope it could be applied into.
