The naration was well done, and story was captivating. I love historical romances where the heroine reforms a wickedly bad rake, and this book does it very well. I will happily listen to more books by this author if they become available.

Very good

Lovely Heyer tale, well-narrated by Michael Drew...EXCEPT for his portrayal of the hero. I almost didn't finish it because I so intensely disliked the voice he choose for Vidal, but I am glad I did continue after all. A satisfying story.

One of Heyer's best stories

Michael Drew has brought it to life. Wonderful, tongue in cheek Georgette Heyer classic with an amazing narration by Mr Drew

Love this book, so well narrated by Michael Drew

A rollicking continuation of the story begun in These Old Shades...the characters are as lively and witty as ever and the escapades are great fun even the second and third time listened to.

delightful characters

Very nice story, would have enjoyed a little more at the end. The man’s voices were too similar, loved Leonie!

Can’t go wrong with Georgette Hayer!

this is one of my fave Georgette Heyer books. I was not happy with reader's voices. Male readers do not do female voices well. all female characters sound silly and affected. Also did not like the Duke or Vidal's voice affectation. even knowing that men from that era could seem fay. I read both These old Shades and Devils Cub, and the Duke. though sarcastic and affected, would seem to need more male assertiveness undertone to his sarcasm, to me.

my favorite Georgette Heyer book

This is the second book in the Duke of Avon series and Heyer is peerless. Her unusual heroes and heroines, quirks of humor, and attention to period detail have already been well documented and discussed.

So I will just venture to say that the narrator falls a little short, here. The Duke of A sounds too feline, Fanny sounds like a doddering dowager. To be sure, these characters are all 25 years older than they were when they were youthful characters in These Old Shades, but somehow, when reading the book in print, their voices still sound fresh and vigorous (Fanny had been a youthful madcap, a flirtatious beauty! and still retains some giddiness. The delicious interview with Mrs. Challoner, for instance).

This narrator comes close, but his characters aren’t as engaging as they should be.

Heyer sublime as always

Not even sure why. Archetypical story of how the love of a good girl redeems a bad boy. Which, in real life, never works and causes many unhappy "good girls" to be exploited.

I think it's partly because of the development of hilarious side characters, rather like in a Shakespeare comedy.

Not my favorite reader. Don't think he gets some of the male voices right. A bit too harsh and shouting instead of menancing.

One of my favorie Heyer stories

Love this story, wonderful characters. Narrator somewhat annoying, especially with Vidal's interpretation, which does not sound young, impetuous, or sensuous.

Great story, not so great narrator

Michael Drew is perfect for the Devils Cub. Wish more books were read by him. Far superior to most of the women readers. They do a very poor job on male voices.

Good listen
