About this listen

Get close. Uncover his secrets.... Destroy his empire from the inside out.

Rick

I rose from nothing to own this city.

A smooth-talking bastard with an empire of sin.

I was so used to winning that I never saw her sleight of hand.

Now I'm dancing with the devil, and she's holding all the aces.

Nina

I jumped from my father's penthouse to drown in this city.

Just another damaged Bratva princess hiding in plain sight.

They offered me freedom in exchange for his downfall.

Get close.

Uncover his secrets.

Destroy his empire from the inside out.

It seemed so easy...and when you're as broken as I am, there's nothing left to lose.

Except for my heart.

Devils & Dust has no cliff-hanger and a guaranteed HEA. For mature listeners only.

Sad and Fierce!

I was pleasantly surprised to find this is a spin-off of the Santiago Series which meant that I had already met Rick before. While there are several characters that pop up here from that series, this is a standalone and reading that series beforehand is not required but if you love this book, then I would definitely recommend checking out those other books next. Devils & Dust deals with many dark themes that could be triggering for some. It is full of abuse, murder and secrets but mixed in is a love story between two broken people with traumatic pasts who find their way together in this captivating dark mafia romance. Jeffrey Holz and Sarah Puckett both did an excellent job in this duet narration.

Sad & Fierce

Sad and Fierce, what perfect timing for that little mantra to come into my life. I'm definitely trying to relate to it more.

But this was a really great book. I hadn't read the Santiago books, and while they probably would have given me a better idea of the world they are living in, it wasn't necessary to enjoy this book. And enjoy it, I did. For some reason, I've been reading quite a few books similar to this in the last few weeks. When I started this one, I thought it would be just another typical mafia-type book. However, that was so not the case. It turned out to be extremely different, and I was thoroughly impressed by it. It even left me eager to read the rest of the Santiago books.

The narrators did a brilliant job. I've listened to MANY books narrated by Sarah Puckett, and I've always liked her. Her voice fits so many different parts. She's more than a narrator; she's a performer. This book is further proof of her talent. She maintains a beautiful accent throughout the book. Jeffrey Holz also did really well. While I haven't listened to as much of his work as Sarah's, this isn't the first book I've heard him narrate. He's a true professional too. These guys are the trifecta when it comes to audiobooks!

Devils & Dust

What an epic ending. That ending made me swoon for Rick right along with Nina. This book can be read as a standalone but I strongly suggest reading The Santiago Trilogy first. I love how Nina and Rick’s lives crossed at the ages 6 and 17, then again at 22 and 33. This was a tale of star crossed lovers that were never meant to be but got to love fate. Sarah Puckett and Jeffrey Holz did a fantastic job narrating this book in duet style narration.

Terrific Story & Narration🎧Captivating & Intense!

Catherine Witcher’s “Santiago” trilogy were some of my favorite mafia romance novels and it was great to revisit and spend more time in the Santiago world. “Devils & Dust” is Rick Sanders and Nina Costin’s story and the story takes place in New York, but Rick has a connection with the Santiagos and that connection is what brings Nina into his life. Nina is desperate to save her sister from her evil father’s clutches, and she needs to work her way into Rick’s life to get the information that her father wants. There was no choice since her sister’s life depends on it. Rick worked hard to get to where he was and it has not always been easy, he felt an instant connection to Nina, but not is all what it seems for either one of them. This amazing and exciting romantic suspense has a perfect balance of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. As always, the writing, plotting and world building is fantastic, as is the character growth and development. Catherine Witcher, thank you for another entertaining and mind-blowing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧 📚🎧And for the terrific narration, Sarah Puckett and Jeffrey Holz were the perfect cast to bring the characters and story to life. They understood the characters they portrayed and gave each character a voice that was fitting to that character, accent and all. Puckett nailed it as Nina, grasping every aspect of her personality, and Holz did the same for Rick and was just as amazing. Both were fantastic in covering the secondary characters’ roles too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and enjoyable to listen to. Thank you for another great listen.

Another great audiobook!

I'm glad I found Cathrine Wiltcher. She writes well with heart pounding storylines and great characters. I love it when we see characters from previous books, but make no mistake that this is a standalone. My heart ached for Nina throughout this book. Rick took some time for me to appreciate. He came through though! A twist was thrown in and such a satisfying end.

Jeffrey Holz and Sarah Puckett, once again, gave us an excellent performance. This audiobook rolled like a movie in my head. Easy to listen to voices.

Loved This Story

I really loved this story and the narrator's did an absolutely amazing job bringing this book to life. Rick and Nina have a story to tell and you are going to be hooked. These two met sixteen years ago. They have both had horrible lives. He went through a marriage that he didn't have to but he kept up the marriage for the child that she had even though he wasn't his. But he didn't know that at the time. Now that marriage is over and Rick has brought Nina to the island that Dante lives on. She is after all the daughter of an enemy and her life has been horrible. They are out to destroy her father for what he is doing. Now she is in his bar working and he allows it since he is taken with her but her father is forcing her to infiltrate Ricks place to get closer to him. Her father has her older sister and she wants her back. But first she needs to get the coordinates for the island. Mission impossible. I have to shut up about the story or I will give something away. But as you can tell there is a lot happening and so many twists and turns You do not want to miss this book.

took me on a captivating ride from the beginning

This story took me on a captivating ride from the beginning! All the little tidbits in the beginning left me desperate for all the secrets to be revealed because I knew there was so much more going on beneath the surface, but the twists and turns that came...Some were almost mind blowing! An action and danger filled, twisty, edge of your seat suspense laden story with two broken people finding solace in the most unlikely of places: each other. Crazy, undeniable, star crossed love amongst a dangerous criminal underworld out to destroy them, but they will rise from the ashes attempting to suffocate them and receive the HEA they thought was out of their reach! And the narration was terrific bringing it to life.

Devils 😈 & Dust

Omg, this book was so heartbreaking 💔 😢 and sad. but I loved every bit of it. Man, I loved hearing about Rick and his backstory, and poor Nina and all the stuff she went through and to find out that the first time they met she had gotten sexual abuse. man, and she was young then 10 years of age. that man was sick. but crazy after all these years they always had loved each other but not knowing it. I'm just glad this happened to have a happy ending. oh by the way you guys are going to get a plot twist to this story too.
