About this listen

The doctors call it Munchausen by proxy, the terrifying disease that causes parents to induce illness in their own children. Now, in his most frightening case, Dr. Alex Delaware may have to prove that a child's own mother or father is making her sick.

Twenty-one-month-old Cassie Jones is bright, energetic, the picture of health. Yet her parents rush her to the emergency room night after night with medical symptoms no doctor can explain. Cassie's parents seem sympathetic and deeply concerned. Her favorite nurse is a model of devotion. Yet when child psychologist Alex Delaware is called in to investigate, instinct tells him that one of them may be a monster.

Then a physician at the hospital is brutally murdered. A shadowy death is revealed. And Alex and his friend LAPD detective Milo Sturgis have only hours to uncover the link between these shocking events and the fate of an innocent child.

Good story line and kept me guessing as to how all the writer would tie things together and come to the end -a good ending. Very enjoyable listening. Thanks.

Kept interest right to the end

What would have made Devil's Waltz better?

The story could have been half as long to accomplish what it did. It goes on and on, taking forever to reach the climax..only to find it's not worth the huge time commitment. His later books are much more enjoyable.

Would you ever listen to anything by Jonathan Kellerman again?

Yes

Any additional comments?

Try out some of Kellerman's more recently written books. He's finally moved beyond the lengthy prose that provides nothing to the plot of the story itself.

WAY too long for a less than stellar end

Would you try another book from Jonathan Kellerman and/or Alexander Adams?

By JK? Always. I would just check the copyright date first.

Would you be willing to try another book from Jonathan Kellerman? Why or why not?

Yes.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Nothing really.

Did Devil's Waltz inspire you to do anything?

No

Any additional comments?

When I downloaded this I thought "Wow! I must have missed one of his releases. I kept thinking 'pick up your GPS' or wondering why he didn't have a cell phone and was disappointed in the different voice of the characters. When I figured out it was one of his older works I tried to like it, but having read the series to the last book with just missing the first few, I couldn't enjoy it.

This is an OLD book!!

I usually love a Kellerman mystery. It lacks Kellerman's usual broad descriptions for sure.
It really dragged along too much and I found myself losing interest.

Too Slow

I much prefer Rubenstein as the reader of the Deleward books. Don't enjoy this reader nearly as much which makes a big difference in the enjoyment of the book.
