Good start

When I'm reviewing, I usually give a lenient review to the first in a series and the last in a series because at the beginning its new and tends to be rough and rocky and then if it even makes it to the end that dismount can be a real mother. With that said the other thing I do is separate personal preference from the rest of the review. This book is a good start to what should shape up to be an amazing series. I do have one note about the lady narrator which is that her performance comes off like an actor acting. If that's clear as mud the example that I would give, is you're watching a TV show and one of the characters is supposedly starring in a play and so the acting is played up for that scene in the story. I didn't realize until about halfway through the book that I had listened to another audio-book with this lady narrator and while I couldn't find the review for that book it seems to me that I had the same note back then but that it wasn't as noticeable because it was a solo narration. After a while I stop noticing it because I was so into the story. The other note that I have is for the author regarding the MC’s accent. I think given the circumstances the gentleman narrator made the right choice if it was all up to him. Now I'm not a writer so forgive me if I don't articulate this correctly, but the story is written in first person which the narrator performs in American English and then when the MC speaks to themself internally or talks to another character it's a non-American accented English. At first, I was confused because it sounded like there was another person in the scene but quickly, I realized what was going on. Given how the book was written I don't think that there would have been a better way for the narrator to do this however my recommendation would be to write in third person and then have the MC with the accent. It's not a deal breaker, but it's just one of the things that I noticed that was a little off. Moving on to my personal preference I'm going to say that I was a little confused with what was going on in the story at the beginning and I've still got questions now that I'm at the end. I was not a fan of the MC’s accent, but after a while it really didn't matter to me. I don't like the evil Valkyries though I'll admit I've not seen them really treated that way in anything else I’ve read or listened to. That's a new one for me, but it's not quite to my liking. At the end of the day the book was entertaining enough to get me to go check out book 2 which is available now as an eBook only. I do want to see where the story goes from here.

Terrible narration

Could barely focus in any story. Every "Ssss" sounding words or syllables the man WHISTLED DESTROYING MY EARS.

What a way to kick off a series!

"I recently read Divine Collector by Mark Torr, and I have to say it's a solid addition to the progression fantasy harem genre. The characters are engaging, the worldbuilding is rich, and the action is intense. I can't wait to see where the story goes next!"

Good if you want it.

Fun and sexy. It is a little short on story but pretty good on the harem fun and games.

A wild new romp

I have never tried a book by Mark Torr and I'm suddenly glad I started now. Erin is my favorite female narrator and each time I listen to Christian he gets better and better. was so happy they were my gateway drug into Mark's writing.

An Entertaining Surprise Find

This story felt originally slightly formulaic to the genre but then picked up. Some of the story characters felt recycled from similar quest stories. That did lend an air of revisiting some long not seen friends. I assume there’s a volume two and more?

it's not the best book but it not the worst.

this book is just a few points under the average line. I know it's a harem story but it commits the same annoying crime all harem stories make. the first girl is just eye candy then later. she we get shown she's a badass with a bow/ranged weapon. then every other girl the first time we meet them it in a badass scene. showing off how powerful they are. then after that they seems to lose there power because they never use them again. I'm really getting tired of this damed trope. Also the characters are one dimensional dolls. just because it's a harem story doesn't mean you can't give them a personality over then a bitch in heat. sometimes it hard to tell which girl is talking.

p.s. also who has a Philosophical inter monolog while getting a handjob.

if someone is shown they can time freez a whole room of people. why aren't they using this magic everytime they are caught by the bad guys chasing them.
