Publisher's summary

The TARDIS materialises on board the maiden voyage of a pioneering space cruiser, travelling from Earth to the planet Eternity. The Doctor has just started exploring the huge, hi-tech Interstitial Transposition Vehicle when there is a loud bang, a massive jolt, and a flash of light. Shortly afterwards, he discovers that nearly all the passengers and crew have disappeared. Unless the Doctor and flight attendant Sugar MacAuley can take control and steer the ship, they could crash-land or keep slipping through space forever. And as if that wasn't enough, something awful awaits them on Eternity.

Written exclusively for audio by Dan Abnett and read by David Tennant, The Last Voyage features the Doctor as played by David Tennant in the acclaimed hit series from BBC Television.

Excellent!

This is one of the best I've listened to yet! I love the mystery and the monsters and the adventure, and of course, Tennant's reading was the icing on the cake.

Well Worth the Credit - Wonderfully Narrated

Dan Abnett is a superior Whovian author and this is the best of the David Tennant narrated pieces I have heard so far. His narrator voice is a very gentle Scottish accent, which makes it so easy to tell when he is being "The Doctor".

Enjoyable novella.

Highly recommend it.

Fun Listen - Good Narrator

David Tennant does a a great job of reading this audiobook and keeping the listener interested and guessing what is going to happen next. We get the Doctor that we know and love, and yet we are not overloaded with so many sub-characters that we lose the storyline. Mr. Tennant's vocal range is fun to listen to, as is his voice in general, but with this performance there is a definite distinction between who is whom so the listener isn't left guessing whom is speaking at any one time. I appreciated this, as sometimes it is difficult to distinguish between characters with some readers.

I recommend this audiobook for Doctor Who fans. It is fun, mysterious and a great listen in the car.

Fantastic!

I loved everything about this reading! From the thrilling story being told, to David Tennant reading the story himself! My only qualm is that the story has a lot of similarities to the Voyage of the Damned tv episode. Other than that I loved listening to it!

A good listen!

David Tennant never fails to deliver. This is a nice snack-sized audiobook. Exciting yet not too stressful to bear in a relaxed state.

Eerie Otherly Incursion

What made the experience of listening to Doctor Who the most enjoyable?

I absolutely love Incursion stories, where some other realm is percolating into the world we know and love. This premise is what really hooked me.

What did you like best about this story?

The subject of another cosmos leaking into ours was the best bit, although David Tennant's spine-chilling loin-warming brogue is a close second.

Which scene was your favorite?

The "Stop shouting my name!" scene at the fountain.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This is the kind of book that was so gushingly intense and fun I had to pause it to recover my breath and savor the experience.

Any additional comments?

The eldritch and un-knowable atmosphere of this story was great.

New Whovian can't get enough of the Doctor...

What did you love best about Doctor Who?

I'm relatively new to the Who universe and when I found out there were audiobook novels available I became interested. I downloaded a couple of them to listen to as I work around my house (when I can't WATCH Doctor Who episodes) and I must say I am greatly pleased. It maintained the feel of the show and helped me imagine a fantastic vision of the story. I will definitely be getting more Doctor audiobooks.

What other book might you compare Doctor Who to and why?

There IS NO comparing The Doctor!

What about David Tennant’s performance did you like?

I was very excited to see that my favorite Doctor was narrating his own tale. I was not disappointed either. Mr. Tennant did a fantastic job and I can't wait to listen to him narrate another tale.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not Necessarily.

Interesting twist on a story I love

Have you listened to any of David Tennant’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I love listening to David Tennant and listening to him be The Doctor is the best ever.

Any additional comments?

I have to love the homage to "The Langoliers" it even has the creepy monsters with the giant sharp teeth.
