About this listen

Melanie Travis thought her sleuthing days were behind her. She has a new baby to take care of - not to mention five Standard Poodles. These days, the closest Melanie gets to detective work is scoping out the scene at the local doggie day center for her friend Alice Brickman. As Melanie learns, it's a dog's life at the Pine Ridge Canine Care Center - and life is good. Everyone seems blissfully happy. Everyone canine, that is, as Melanie soon discovers there are some simmering resentments among the Pine Ridge staff. And when Steve Pine, the center's charming, good-looking co-owner, is found shot to death on the floor of his office, there's no shortage of suspects. With the police at a loss for leads, it's now up to Melanie to go undercover and sniff out a killer whose secrets lie buried in a dog's paradise that's proving to be anything but....

Upon inspection there are more amenities and a waiting list than most kids' day care. It's a great ride to the end through the doggie door. Characters continue to develop from one book to the next. The descriptions of domestic chaos within the families is fun to witness, especially with multi dogs as residents. This entire series is fun to read.

I found this series a couple years ago, and this was my first time listening to one on tape. It did not disappoint! As ever, the plot is fun and engaging with the right amount of humor and action. And I loved the narrator! I enjoyed that each person had a different voice that brought them to life. Wonderful job by both author and narrator!

Love this series!

Liked the Daycare setting. More people need to do this for their four legged friends.

Always willing to please, Melanie investigates a doggy day care for her friend Alice. She gets into a lot of trouble, but she does get the job done. The mystery is well written and the characters are entertaining. Another good read in a good series.

One of the Best in the Series

I’m not sure how this narrator was chosen but from the moment I started listening, I cringed. Unfortunately the sound of her voice was so irritating I couldn’t listen to the whole book. I wanted to give the book a try because I liked the subject matter but the narrator ruined the whole experience for me. I will purposely never listen to another book with this narrator.
