Critic reviews

"Nancy Grace has been America's preeminent crime victim advocate for as long as I have known her, and I have known her for more than 20 years. She understands the emotional and psychological suffering that crime victims endure, and always responds with empathy, compassion and dignity. Whether you are a victim of elder abuse, or a critically missing child, Nancy Grace will be your champion until justice is served." (Marc Klaas, president of KlaasKids Foundation)

"[A] sensible guide on how to avoid becoming a crime victim...Grace's conversational tone makes for easy reading. Those concerned with personal safety will find comfort and practical advice." (Publishers Weekly)

"From her days at Court TV to her long-running show on CNN Headline News to her newest ventures, Injustice and Crime Stories, Nancy Grace has been one of America's foremost voices for victims. Her new book takes that advocacy to a newer, higher level. She provides a step-by-step and risk-by-risk guide for every parent, every child and every person on how to avoid becoming a victim." (Ernie Allen, chairman, WePROTECT Global Alliance)

Dense sad but helpful

I am impressed with the book. It was hard to listen to sad stories but that is how we learn.

Format too triggering -

I very much respect and appreciate Nancy Grace and I was happy to buy this book but the format is absolutely too grueling for me.

There are hours and hours of stories that many I have akready endured over the years in news magazines and on television and she starts off each chapter by giving you a lengthy grueling recap of hideous crimes and that is not why I bought the book. I don't feel it's needed to recap grueling hideous crimes from the past.

I'm interested to be empowered by the information she could offer - instead I felt traumatized. Triggered PTSD.

Towards the end of each chapter you get a pile of ideas which are basically common sense and also good reminders and some tips are new but I'm really disappointed in this format and it was traumatizing to try to get through it and I'm trying to empower my safety, not terrorize it.

The book did not deliver what I was hoping to obtain.

Left me wanting

It was more like reading headlines and I really wanted some in-depth look in the killers, the investigations etc. I felt it was just high level news stories and maybe that was the intent but I was looking for a True Crime format. I didnt bother to finish.
