Desert sunshine casts the darkest shadows.

Successful realtor Julia Brooks moves to the quirky neighborhood of Vista de Lirio in the California desert and meets a riotous cast of eccentric characters. I loved this! Following Julia’s story of starting fresh after a “cardiac event” is magical, mischievous, and marvelous. From the tropical California vibes to the 2 new friends and hunky part time boyfriend - Elizabeth Hunter real embodied everything I love about PWF in this book. Can’t wait to read #2!

I'm fairly new to Elizabeth Hunter and I'll admit that I usually shy away from anything that says "paranormal". However, I'm turning into a huge fan. Her books that I've read/listened to so far have both been about normal people who have happen to develop some psychic gifts. Julia, the main character, can communicate with ghosts, one woman perceives other people's thoughts and one is wide open to everyone else's feelings. Julia's friends are a dentist and a ventriloquist. Fun group.

The story is a mystery with these three women trying to solve the murder of someone that had been at a party with the main character. The ghost is that of the young man who was dating an older woman. He's outspoken and apparently "stuck to" Julia. There are also other ghosts associated to the property where the murder occurred. They are interesting in their own right and one of them also was an unsolved murder. There's a lot of laughable moments in the book, some danger and even a little romance. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can't wait for the next.

I listened to the audio version narrated extremely well by Ava Lucas. Thanks to Recurve Press, LLC and Valentine PR for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.

Really fun story!

Ok narration but such slow story progress ar times. Good surprises during story, predictable villain yet surprising twists getting there. Story at least an hour too long, too much lamenting here and there. Great fun with guard alpaca and party guests. I would feel dissatisfied if I had paid for the story rather than using a credit to try new to me author.

Slow ghost story, but good

This book is an absolute hoot from start to finish. Even with a murder to solve, the whole thing is thoroughly entertaining. Julia is our main character, and to be honest, she's probably the closest thing to normal of any of the characters - that's really something considering she's recently started seeing and communicating with ghosts. This is a whole community packed full of quirky characters. both the living and the dead. Oh, and an alpaca who is pretty much a character in his own right. I love that most of the characters are approaching or around middle-age, which is refreshing. Ava Lucas gives voice to Julia and company, and her performance is everything I expected. She adds another layer to what was already an engaging story. I usually listen as I go about my daily routine, and the energy of this one kept me moving most of the time (I did have a few instances where I caught myself just sitting and listening, particularly when things started to unfold). Between the excellent writing and the completely entertaining narration, I forgot to even try to solve the mystery! Having a murder to solve is like an added bonus. I did figure out the whodunit pretty quickly, but that didn't diminish my enjoyment of the story, and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series and more time with this zany bunch of characters.

So much fun!!

My first criticism is the story description doesn't do the book justice. My second criticism is book 2 and 3 aren't out yet.

This is not a serious murder mystery, nor would I give it a "cozy" murder mystery vibe because it lacks the stereotypical bakery (and / or baking goods) with the blatant small town trimmings. What this story is....is like a cross between a Nancy Drew type real estate broker (not overly nosey) with a small touch of family from "my big fat Greek wedding" combine it with eccentric semi-goth teens and their same sex male parents - oh and ghosts...don't forget the ghosts - throw it in a blender and you've got a quirky, sassy, fun story.

Not your average cozy murder mystery....

The first book in the Vista de Lirio doesn’t disappoint. We meet Julie who was looking at slowing things down but finds that Vista de Lirio is anything but slow.
The narrator, Ava Lucas is fantastic. The variety of tones and inflections used were great!
It was very easy for me to distinguish which character was speaking.
Julie forms a tight knit bond with Evy and Vivian. The characters are all well rounded and while they go on a mission to solve a mystery they find more trouble then what they bargained for.
If you enjoy a fun listen with a bit of humor, mystery, and paranormal woman’s fiction you’ll love this series!

Great start for a new series!!

I don't know that I have the words to tell you how much I've enjoyed this book! Double Vision by Elizabeth Hunter was such a great Book 1!!! The location was spectacular, I mean who doesn't want to live in the fabulously rich and exclusive Palm Springs! Even the ghosts want to stick around!!

Love the great women friendships the Elizabeth has in her books! And I want to be friends with Sergio and Dean sooo badly!!!

Like I said I loved this book so much, and can't wait for the next one!!! ❤❤❤

Ava Lucas did another magnificent job narrating! She's fantastic!!!

Loved this Sooo much!

Elizabeth Hunter pens another fabulous paranormal women’s fiction novel, the first book of her new and exciting “Vista de Lirio Mysteries” series. I loved everything about this book, from the author’s wonderful writing style to the fabulous characters and storylines she created to the perfectly cast narrator who brings it all to life from the pages to your ears. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to care about too. Julia Brooks leaves the hustle and bustle of the city to slow down and live a quieter life in Vista de Lirio, but she quickly learns there is nothing quiet about Vista de Lirio. We are introduced to some interesting characters in this book, starting with Julia’s good friend who happens to be her ex-husband and his partner, through them she makes more friends, including the women who will soon be her partners in crime, or rather solving crime, Vivian and Evy. Julia stumbles upon a murder scene and she learns about her newly gained ability to see ghosts, starting with the murder victim, Justin, who was a riot and became her shadow. How do you get rid of a ghost, solve his murder and direct him to the light, right? I loved how everything played out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, a touch of angst, some humor and witty dialogue, mystery, crime drama, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt emotions and the start of a sweet romance. Elizabeth Hunter, thank you for another wonderfully entertaining story.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Ava Lucas is a superbly talented narrator and a versatile voice artist. She covers the roles for all the characters, gives each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. She does an amazing job with both the male and female voices, switches roles and handles the back-and-forth dialogue with ease, never missing a beat. She has a complete understanding of the characters she portrays and sounds believable in every role she plays. You could hear how much heart she puts into her work as she captures all the character’s emotions and projects them into her performance and has you feeling every single one. Ava Lucas is a wonderfully entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

I enjoy Elizabeth Hunter and her paranormal mysteries. The characters were very relatable. The are not children or young adults. Its nice to have characters that are my contemporaries. Terrific mystery! I liked the narrator too. I hope that book two will be out in audiobook form soon.
