Publisher's summary
When Caroline Auden lands a job at a top Los Angeles law firm, she's excited for the challenge - and grateful for the chance to put her dark past as a computer hacker behind her. Right away, her new boss asks her to find out whether a popular GMO causes healthy people to fall ill. Caroline is only supposed to dig in the trenches and report up the ladder, but her tech background and intuition take her further than planned. When she suspects a link between the death of a prominent scientist and the shadowy biotech giant, she cries foul and soon finds herself in the crosshairs. The clock is ticking and thousands of lives are on the line...including her own.
Now this rookie lawyer with a troubled past and a penchant for hacking must prove a billion-dollar company is responsible for thousands of deaths...before they come after her.

Story
Alan Gregory is a clinical psychologist with a thriving practice in Boulder, Colorado. His life begins to unravel when one of his female patients is found in an apparent suicide and the local paper begins printing accusations from an unnamed source of sexual impropriety between the woman and Dr. Gregory. He launches a psychological and personal quest for the truth that rapidly intensifies when more of his patients die untimely deaths, and Gregory suspects not only that the deaths are related but that another one of his patients may be somehow involved. Lacking facts but roused by suspicion and troubled by seemingly random acts of terror around him, Gregory starts to fear for the safety of the people he loves. The question of the inviolability of confidential disclosures made to Gregory by his patients - privileged information - becomes crucial as the psychologist pursues an unsettling romance with Lauren Crowder, a lovely deputy district attorney investigating one of the deaths. Bound to silence, Gregory follows the psychological tracks of someone he fears may be a cunning and disturbed killer, while turning to his enigmatic but supportive partner, Diane Estevez, for counsel, and to his tart-tongued female urologist neighbor for support. The sinister, surprising drama unfolds against Boulder's Rocky Mountain backdrop, in the arresting natural beauty of Aspen, and in the midst of a baroque Halloween costume party in downtown Boulder. Finally, in a lonely mountain lodge enshrouded in menace, the story comes to its breathtaking climax.

False Witness engages listeners who enjoy suspense novels with a message. This work, Singer's sixth, has more subtle spiritual themes than previous works. With a riveting plot, this is an excellent legal thriller for both male and female listeners. Capitalizing on our ever-growing concern with issues like identity theft, hackers, encrypted digital and electronic information, and personal security, False Witness could easily come from stories behind today's media headlines.

Me and the legendary Zimmerman twins - it's a friendship made in geek heaven. And it all started back when I worked for the NSA... My best friend Basia dragged me to the beach for her idea of a vacation. All those annoying people, sand in embarrassing places - not exactly R & R for a girl who doesn't like the sun, the ocean, or bathing suits. I couldn't wait to get back to work. But things started looking up when I ran into Elvis and Xavier Zimmerman. We discovered we had a lot in common: gaming, anchovies, hacking.

Good Story
Struggled with this one. Narration was difficult to deal with- all male characters sounded like the same old man. Would prefer narration in one voice over the old man. Had to drop it before I finished.

great twists and turns.
it took a chapter or two to get into, the language for me was a little more than I am used to. The verbal abuse was not something I cared for. I thought the story was very well done and the reader did an excellent job with voices. the twists and turns and surprises were very well placed and scripted.

Legal proceedures
Lack of proper legal terms and procedures detracts from the enjoyment of the book. Author needs to spend some time in a courtroom.

Absolutely enthralling
I randomly came across this audiobook and decided it was the perfect length for my weekend of travel. After the first few minutes I was hooked! I managed to finish the book on my flight home and was instantly wishing I had the follow-up book. Having a law degree and working in higher education, I found the work both relatable and realistic in its legal analysis. At the same time, the action literally had me on the edge of my seat. This book has skyrocketed up my favorite books list. It is simply superb.

Excellent book by new author
I just finished listening to Doubt, a legal thriller by C E Tobisman. It's her first book published and I highly recommend it to fans of legal thrillers. Her storyline and character Caroline Auden was very believable and entertaining, I am looking forward to her next book Proof which will be released in June. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Very Engaging Novel
C.E. Tobisman wrote a wonderful novel and Carly Robins did an outstanding job of narrating it. I loved the determination and resourcefulness of Caroline Auden. She exhibited the strength and professionalism of a far more experienced lawyer and was so intelligent. She truly is to be admired and as a central character I'm looking forward to more Caroline Audern in the next novel in the series.

Interesting and worthwhile legal suspense thriller
After several years as a computer technology specialist Caroline Auden went to law school, passed the bar and joined a large and prestigious law firm as a junior associate. Her first job assignment is to assist on a large class action case involving hundreds of claimants and many law firms. The assignment is clearly over her head, but she does not question that. Then the suspense begins.
Realizing the book is fiction I did not down rate it for the case being against a company that supplied genetically modified soybean based foods that caused renal failure in humans. It's a bit of a scare tactic because no GMO (genetically modified plants in this case) has ever been shown to cause health issues in animals and humans. Use of such genetically modified plant based feeds and foods have been around a long time with only positive results.
Doubt is an excellent thriller I would award 4.5 stars if possible. The action and suspense inside and outside the courtroom are riveting. Ms. Tobisman has written a worthwhile book. The twist at the end adds to the story. Narration is excellent.
This is book 1 in the Caroline Auden series. I plan to listen to or read future book in the series.
