On average, a physician will interrupt a patient describing her symptoms within 12 seconds. In that short time, many doctors decide on the likely diagnosis and best treatment. Often, decisions made this way are correct, but at crucial moments they can also be wrong: with catastrophic consequences. In this myth-shattering book, Jerome Groopman pinpoints the forces and thought processes behind the decisions doctors make.

Story
In State of the Heart, the journey to rid the world of heart disease is shown to be reflective of the journey of medical science at large. We are learning not only that women have as much heart disease as men, but that the type of heart disease women experience is diametrically different from that in men. We are learning that heart disease and cancer may have more in common than we could have imagined. And we are learning how human evolution itself may have led to the epidemic of heart disease

Story
Happy Accidents is a fascinating, entertaining, and highly accessible look at the surprising role serendipity has played in some of the most important medical discoveries in the 20th century. What do penicillin, chemotherapy drugs, X-rays, Valium, the Pap smear, and Viagra have in common? They were each discovered accidentally, stumbled upon in the search for something else. In discussing medical breakthroughs, Dr. Morton Meyers makes a cogent, highly engaging argument for a more creative, rather than purely linear, approach to science. And it may just save our lives!

Story
One out of three women alive today, and one out of two men, will face a cancer diagnosis, according to the World Health Organization. Ty Bollinger takes this personally: in the course of a decade, he says, "I lost my entire family to cancer. I don't believe I had to lose them." The Truth about Cancer has been written for one simple reason: to share the knowledge we need to protect ourselves, treat ourselves, and in some cases save our lives or the lives of those we love.

If so, you may be experiencing symptoms of premenopause. Comprehensive dive into prostate cancer treatment.
I have been diagnosed with gleason 4+3=7 prostate cancer. No one wants to hear that news. After an office visit with a urologist I began searching the internet. I was able to find bits and pieces of information. Then I thought I would see what was available in books. I found this book along with many good reviews. This is where I should have started. Dr Walsh covers prostate cancer pretty thoroughly. Most of my questions were answered in this book. I recommend this book.

The scariest book I've ever read (listen)
This is the scariest book I've ever read and the most informative book I've ever read. I also bought the hard cover book and followed along with the audible version. I wrote notes throughout the book. highlighted many paragraphs. This book helped to decide what procedure I'm going to choose. They explain all the available options. They are a bit biased one procedure I believe. The book is very deep but easy to follow for the most part. I wish everyone the best of luck and well wishes for everyone going through this. You will get better.

Fantastic!!
I’ve been the medical field for 40 years. I read this book after my biopsy. 7.2 PSA and 6-6-7 Gleason. This book gives you clear and concise information to help you make an intelligent decision. It crushes your fear of getting your PSA numbers. Prostate cancer is a #2 killer of men because of fear and embarrassment. By the time you’re symptomatic it could be too late. Do yourself a favor and read this.

comprehensive view of prostate cancer
this book offers a very good overview of issues related to prostate cancer. since Dr Walsh is a surgeon he focuses more on surgical treatments than on radiology and ADT treatments. but it is still very worthwhile to listen to the many aspects of cancer addressed in this book
