Publisher's summary

Chamenos is free, but Uzmantine is still determined to conquer dragonkind.

Dragons have returned to Chamenos now that Skotar and Evalaia have been defeated, but the ancient draznar Uzmantine has set her sights on another target: Pieter’s homeland of Pothena. Pieter and his friends are determined to stop her, but when she unveils a devastating weapon, they realize that it may already be too late. Now, it seems that she can overwhelm all dragons in her path, making them helpless prey for her army of draznar.

With his siblings standing alongside his friends, Pieter and his dragon, Gloriox, work tirelessly to find some way to beat Uzmantine and her weapon for good. Yet each battle costs Pieter allies whom he can’t afford to lose. And the more he settles into his role as leader, the higher tensions grow among his siblings.

Then, Pieter makes a terrible mistake from which there may be no way to recover.

Now if he wants to defeat Uzmantine, Pieter will face his biggest challenge yet. Saving his friends and his people is worth any price. But will his magic and skills be enough?

I have always enjoyed Ava’s audio books. This one did not disappoint. Lots of action with the dragons. The narrator did an amazing job with all the accents. These are great Ostend for young and old. Looking forward to the next great series

Dragonriders

I have read this story already and doing a audible read. I was a good story and the narration was good too. I had listened to the whole series in another review. A world of dragons and fantasy.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A great series

Such a great story. Awesome characters & wonderful dragons. I just love Rosa & Ziggy. They make the story fun. Gloriox is an amazing dragon. He is old but very wise which is good because Peter will need that wisdom as he battles Oozmantine. Peter struggles as he tries to defeat Oozmantine. After each failed attempt to destroy the skull, Peter starts to doubt his leadership abilities. His grumpy brother Kahn does not help. As everyone knows, determination pays off. A great series & can't wait for more.

Fitting End to Wonder Series!

Fantasy is not my typical reading jam, but I've been exploring different genres through audiobooks, which I’m enjoying immensely. I've listened to this entire The Last Dragonriders series and found it incredibly enjoyable.

In this book, Pieter returns to his homeland of Pothena, as that’s where the series’ ultimate villain (Uzmantine) is headed next. Pieter doesn’t know how his older siblings will react to him returning as the head of a dragonrider army already battle-tested against the villain and her Draznar army. Let’s just say family relationships aren’t always easy, and throughout this book, we witness the twists and turns of believable, challenging family dynamics… along with all the outside dangers they face.

I love the idea of Chamenos magic, first described in Book One of the series and used to great effect throughout each book of the series. This magic is drawn from emotion its wielders pull up through themselves to empower their spells. I like this idea of emotion-driven magic. In the first two books, this magic seems to work effectively with little effort (except learning and testing it), but in this third book, Pieter certainly struggles with it more. As he tests the limits of his (and this magic’s) abilities, the answers aren't always simple, and he isn’t always successful. But in the final epic battle, we get to see Chamenos’ magic work at its full power in surprising ways that make perfect sense.

This book wraps up the series well, even tying up the plot line regarding the existing draznar in a very satisfying way. Pieter and Rosa grow closer in this book, and she even becomes more integral in the fight against Uzmantine and the draznar; you could even say she becomes the catalyst who turns the tide in the Rebellion's favor. After all that everyone's been through in the entire series, the epilogue of this book is particularly sweet. The narrator did a fantastic job with this series. She's able to give the dragons wise, noble voicings. I love all the Chamenos characters, with their Scottish accents! This is an exceptionally well-thought-out series with a complex magical fantasy world that makes sense within itself and is easy to follow and understand even if you haven't read other series set in this world. Pieter’s sister Dez has her own entire series that takes place before this one. I actually already have it queued up and ready to go, as I enjoyed this series so much.

Dragonrider Champion

Draznar Uzmantine is relentlessly determined to conquer dragonkind and now turns to Pieter’s homeland of Pothena. He is not getting the support he had hoped for and many allies are dying. She has a weapon that is supposedly unbeatable. Will Pieter’s siblings, Dez and Kahn, stand with him to fight this foe? Or do they still think of him as their weak little brother and not as the Commander of the Army he has been leading against this powerful enemy? Fighting the biggest challenge he has yet endured, Pieter is willing to give his life to save them all.

This is an exciting series with a strong story line. Pieter has few choices left in this battle. He will need to call on all of his skills to defeat Uzmantine. And he is not sure if his magic will actually be enough to save them all. The narrator for the audiobook is Amelia Hugh. She does a great job with the voices to personalize the story and make it easy for the listener to get an accurate idea of what each character is like. It helps to set the mood, raise the suspense, and is a pleasant way to “read” and enjoy the book.

Magic, dragon-riders and battles!

This audible captured my attention and I couldn’t stop listening! The story was thrilling, action-packed and brought out so many emotions. The characters were awesome and loved the accents of the people from Chamenos! Pieter has demonstrated so much growth! It was wonderful when he realized that Leaders aren’t perfect, make mistakes and should acknowledge their mistakes……it only makes them human. This audio is filled with action, danger, dragons, Draznars, magic, mystery, training, the Dark Art, missions, family, friends, romance, suspense, the Resistance, war, Dragon bones, petrographs, pit of Eridis, lava, Uzmantine, Dragon Oracle, Power of a soul, betrayal, Battles, the 1st dragon’s skull, and more!
