Dragon Called

Life and death is a delicate balancing act - and only the brave survive.

Dragon eggs are disappearing from the High Mountains aeries. The South Kingdom seeks to replicate the dragon riders of Torvald to stem the Deadweed that strikes out like living beings. They’ll pay the Dragon Traders handsomely for every egg they capture, for only dragon fire has proven effective at turning back the invasive plant.

Until the deadly scourge magically returns with a vengeance.

From the moment 15-year-old Dayie washed ashore as an infant, everyone recognized she was different. Animals took to her instantly. Wounds healed, and plants grew larger in her presence. But after she’s blamed her for the vicious Deadweed attack, the villagers sell her to the ruthless Dragon Traders for fear of her powers and mysterious origin.

When Dayie makes the dangerous mountain climb and steals a dragon egg, she winds up with more than she bargained for when the dragon hatches and bonds with her before she can return. She’s forced to hide the hotheaded young dragon or risk losing him to merciless patrols or the Deadweed creeping ever southward.

But he’s soon discovered when the Deadweed attacks and their rescuer reveals the magic behind the ever-spreading menace. Now, Dayie must either give up her dragon or take her place in the Training Hall of Dagban, where bonding is misunderstood and discord between dragon and rider reigns.

In order to embrace her destiny, Dayie must find balance in this epic dragon fantasy.

Dragon Magic

They must either stand together, or the Kingdom will fall.?

The combination of Dayie’s magic and dragon’s fire has halted the advance of the Deadweed. But it is not defeated. Now, a new enemy lurks on the horizon. Water Wraiths sweep in from the sea, cutting their way inland, and assisting the invading plant’s onslaught deeper into the land.?

Killing everyone in their path.

The new strategy against the Deadweed has proven effective, but Dayie grows weaker each time she uses her powers. It can only be a temporary fix. When she and her dragon Zarr are invited to train with the High Mountains’ Dragon Riders, Dayie eagerly accepts the opportunity. But it’s far from a warm welcome as the tight-knit riders of the High Mountains distrust the outsider and her unusual power.

When the High Mountains leader suggests a compromise, a schism in the ranks threatens to tear the group apart. The loyal few must convince both dragons and riders of the Southern Kingdom to join forces against the Water Wraiths.

But Dayie won’t be much use to them if she can’t figure out how to balance her magic usage and avoid depletion.

To survive the growing menace, the Dragon Riders must set aside the things that divide them and unite.

Before it’s too late...

Dragon Song

Their only hope for their future is to unravel her past.

The Southern Kingdom is overrun with Deadweed and what remains lies scorched by dragon’s fire. Plagued by the choking menace and targeted by attacks from deadly Water Wraiths, Dayie has no choice - master her magic or succumb to it. But when she and the Dragon Riders seek help from neighboring Torvald, they find a kingdom under siege and come to a heart-wrenching realization.

They will not win the fight.

The only option to restore the wasteland that was once their home is for Dayie to travel to a mysterious site that may hold the key to her birth and the tremendous power that drives the Water Wraiths. But what she discovers is more terrifying than the enemies she already faces.

Armed with a link to her past and the song of the sea in her heart, Dayie must confront the truth of her birth in order to wield the full strength of her magic against powerful and untamable foes.

Before all hope is lost.

I am enjoying the author's work

The story is great.

The narrator seems to be part of a trend of narrators that sound like they learned English from a second hand author. She butchers words all through the story she can't even say, "charcoal," as a native English speaker would. She butchered many other words but another stand out was "narrated."

This butchering of words seems to be a trend she is not the first I have heard butchering the spoken English language.

Great book! I couldn't stop listening

This was a very exciting book and very well written. I enjoyed this story from start to finish. A bit of adversity, a bit of excitement, a little romance. It had it all.

good story, okay narrator

I liked the story but the narrator made me eye roll on many occasions. First were the mispronounced words...who doesn't know how to pronounce ocher? that was just the first of several. At first it was funny but by the time she bungled trebuchet I was all out of humor. She did a great job while she was portraying the hero, who was also a young woman. she was convincing and enjoyable to listen to, provided she wasn't mispronouncing her words. But her male characters were mostly suffering. They all had the same grandiose inflictions, no change in timber or candence. I am not an actor or a language specialist or a professional of any kind. But I had to force myeslf to sit through the series, which is a shame because I enjoyed the story.

Overall the story was good

Good story, but in addition to several other opinions about the narrator butchering words, the author’s use of “I and…” grated on my nerves like nails on chalkboard!
If you want to be an author, learn the proper use of pronouns.
How did that get past her editor?

A Great Set

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review. One act can change your life as Dayie finds out when she is sent into the Dragon mountain to seal an egg and found out how easy it is to bond with a dragon. Now her life will forever be that of adventures and magic as she struggles to free her world of Deadweed. She befriends the rightful Prince of the South and together, they and their dragons search for the witch that holds the secret. The characters are well written, with lots of excitement, dragons and a very interesting plot. A great story to listen to while you travel, making the time just fly.

enjoyable story and performace, but...

I dislike cliff-hangers. I can appreciate when they are used to generate interest for a preceding book but not for the very end of a book!

Fantastic!!

Don't let the long run time deter you from this amazing series. It's all three book rolled into one, so you get to finish with no cliffies. It's a tale about an orphan, a dragon and about the friends they make on the way to destroying a great evil. I received a copy of this book from Audiobook Boom and I am leaving my honest review.

Enticing

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

A great series with a female hero. Dayie never knowing who she was finally able to find her feet after the kidnapping and hatching of a dragon egg. There has always been something about her that just was unexplained. As she helps to fight the deadweed and water wraiths she certain there is a better way to defeat it but it requires leaving and finding answers.
A really good series. I loved listening to the dragon and human interactions. I recommend this series to youth and dragon and fantasy lovers.

Great story- horrible narrator

I loved the series but almost didn’t get through it because of the narrator. The tone was off for the characters- who were supposed to be late teens early twenties but whom the narrator made sound like petulant pre-teens. It also irritated me that narrator didn’t know how to pronounce some of the words. Archipelago was one that sticks out the most, lol. Love this author though, so I stuck it out. I would recommend reading the books rather than listening for this series.
