She sacrificed her freedom to save the kingdom—and may have doomed them all.
Narissea thought defeating the Metal Queen, Inyene, and claiming the Stone Crown would bring peace. But the victory comes at a harrowing cost: the crown cannot be removed, and its poisonous whispers seep into her mind. It commands dragons across the land to obey her every word, bending even her loyal dragon, Yimma, to its will.
The voices of the world’s dragons thunder in her head, driving her toward madness—until one rises above the rest. It urges her to take the High Throne, rule as queen, and destroy everything in her path.
Desperate to escape the crown’s growing control, Narissea seeks answers from Torvald’s scholar king, hoping to uncover the crown’s dark origins. With her dragon Yimma, her uncle, and her friends Abioye and Montfre by her side, she clings to her humanity. But the crown has its own sinister will—and it will stop at nothing to achieve its ultimate purpose.
As her grip on reality frays and the crown’s influence tightens, Narissea must race to destroy the artifact.
Before it destroys her—and the world she fought to protect.

I have to admit that the ending took me by surprise. Over the course of a few chapters I went from sad, to confused, to happy, to thinking "Oh good, a sequel is coming" to "wait, that just took care of the entire sequel in a matter of minutes" to "will there be a sequel to fill in the gaps?" and I am not really sure what I think about all of that. I guess I will have to wait and see what happens in the next round of stories.
As with the other books, the narration was good, but parts annoyed me, especially the haughtiness of the main character. But this did not seem quite as strong in this third book.
