About this listen

Scattered across a continent and scarred by their harsh experiences on the path to adulthood, the three dragon siblings are among the last of a dying breed---the final hope for their species' survival. After being separated by dwarf slave traders who found their nest, the brothers and sister---Auron, the rare scaleless gray; Wistala, the green female; and Copper, the embittered cripple---are reunited. But their reunion is not a happy one, since the three find themselves at odds over the coming human war. Auron thinks dragons should have no part of the affairs of humans. Wistala believes dragons and men can peacefully coexist. And Copper has designs of his own for the world. And the civilized humans who have turned to Copper for assistance against their savage enemies have just given him the perfect opportunity to fulfill his plans.©2008 E.E. didn't meet my expectations when compared to the first three. the story felt rushed and the ending was quite weak, didn't feel the same connection.

David Drummond is a great narrator

David Drummond does an excellent job narrating this series of books, he really won me over in the way he voices the Demen in this book.

STOP IT THE DMON voices is cringe

The chatter of the d men is annoying as hell, ASMR type crap that is not needed in audio books.

Desperately trying to tie everything together

I've enjoyed these stories, but this one felt overwrought. There were some big, confusing new plot lines attempting to bind the three tales/tails together - with limited success, in my opinion. I think we're up to five different hominid races now, all being rendered similarly but each with their own alliances, historic betrayals, and generally irksome traits that influence decisions. At one point, I considered going back to my first reading of 'The Name of the Rose' and keeping 3x5 cards on everyone so I can keep them straight. That's more work than I'd like to do for a fun little fantasy series. I'm hoping Knight can punch his way out of this sticky exposition and get back to the nice storytelling tempo of the first few books.

good

Excellent story, the three main characters finally reunited! It got a bit chaotic towards the end, but was easy enough to follow if you have read the other books in the series.

Scatter brained dragons, cause for scattered story

Although this book is a good listen, when I compare it to the previous books I am left with a little disappointment. Weather the author intended it or not, the characters came across to me as a little scatter brained or ditsy. My initial view of dragons was one of a being that is very intelligent, and driven by instinct. To me this book portrays them as that and as beings that cant make up their mind on what side to take.

The story a good one, I feel that it just needs better character development at this stage.
