About this listen

Life is not going well for archaeologist Sam Bellamy. She's stuck in the middle of the ocean on a salvage boat with people who want her dead. It wasn't her gift for being able to sense objects of power that got her here, rather her need to make a secret society called the Knights of the Dragon pay for killing her mentor. Sam doesn't believe in dragons, but the Knights do, and if she can get one of the sacred artifacts they're searching for away from them, she'll consider it payback.

Ezra Easton is content to run his marine salvage company and live alone on his private island. He may be a 4,000-year-old water drakon, but he's civilized enough to know just because he pulls an injured woman from the ocean, doesn't mean he gets to keep her....

When she wakes up, she has a few tall tales to share, and it seems the Knights are after her. But this drakon won't give up his treasure.

Contains mature themes.

Hot suspenseful romance that keeps you enthralled

I loved Sam and Ezra’s fated mates instalove story with a side of salvaged treasure and mythical creatures. It will give you all the swoony swoons while also pulling at your heartstrings with all the emotions. It was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline. I gobbled up this fast paced exciting story in one day. Sam is an archeologist with a sixth sense of finding artifacts related to myths and legends. After her mentor is killed by the Knights of Dragon, she decides to thwart their attempts to recover an artifact from a sunken ship. Ezra is a Drakon who is spying on the Knight’s salvage vessel when he sees Sam get shot as she’s escaping in a dingy. Ezra and his dragon are immediately drawn to Sam even though he is unsure if he should trust her. On the journey to their HEA, there are secrets to tell, killers to evade, and long ranging plans to make all the while be entwined together by fate. The story includes what you’d expect from this genre - sweet moments, steamy scenes, fighting, dangerous situations, paranormal creatures, evil masterminds, henchmen, loyal friends, tragic back stories, mystical coincidences, snark, and laughs. The balance between the suspense and the romance was a perfect balance. This book is a standalone but there is an overarching plot and you’ll get more enjoyment out of the story if you read the series in order. I am excited to read Nick’s story next.

The narrator was perfect for this story. They made a fantastic story even better - more swoony, more steamy, more suspenseful, and more funny. Elizabeth Russell did a phenomenal job narrating the story and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly. I really love the added dimension listening brings to a story.
