About this listen

Walk. Scavenge. Destroy. Trade. A simple cycle that's suited Ronin for 185 years. With no clear grasp of his programming, the barren wasteland known as The Dust offers him purpose, a place where his armored undercasing, amped-up processors, and advanced optics can be put to use. The ramshackle towns on the edges of the waste serve merely as resupply stations between increasingly long treks. But one night - one human woman - makes him question everything.

Lara Brooks struggles to survive under the strict rules imposed by the bots in Cheyenne. With her sister missing, she's been on her own for weeks and fears the worst. Her only hope comes from Ronin, a bot she catches spying on her. He promises to provide for Lara and search for her sister. All she has to do is dance. It should be easy; she's done it before. But the longer she spends with Ronin, the harder it is to see him as just another bot.

In a city where humans are relegated to live in squalor, Ronin discovers a threat greater than any in the Dust - Warlord, Cheyenne's tyrannical leader. When Ronin ignores the rules, he unwittingly puts Lara in danger. Warlord is as intolerant of disrespect as he is of mankind.

Contains mature themes.

Touching AI story

This book was amazing. It had a little of everything. It might seem farfetched that robots and humans can have intimate relationships but the author did an excellent job of it.

Great Story, female narration - not so much

I enjoyed the story. Surprisingly, it was thought-provoking. The female lead was quite annoying at first but redeemed herself. I didn't expect that from an "escape" novel. Ryan Turner does a decent job with female characters. Sadly, can't say the same about Hollie Jackson. She would be better served narrating textbooks. Her male characters have only one tone and well...it sucks. Her female narration is marginally better. She has a monotone voice for everything other than the main female vocal. And, even then it was not very good.

Oddly Entertaining

I enjoy an occasional dystopian romance. Dustwalker was cute and entertaining but it needs a professional proofreader because there were a lot of unimportant contradictions that just needed some word exchanges.
Okay sex but c’mon… he’s a AI, a machine! That just screams the right to take it to higher levels of imagination! So it fell short of its potential.
Loved the male narration, liked the female narration well enough.

Solid as a rock

Great story, nice flow, just enough of all the needed bits to be a satisfying story and omg the ending just slayed me I’m at work crying like a baby!

Emotional, Sweet, and Powerful sprinkled with Sexy

Holy crap this book has stunned me, it was not what I expected and it surprised me. It's very emotionally connected to what it is to be a person, or to be human. The romance is lovely and there are so many sweet parts I can't pick a favourite. Of course there is spice as well. But I found myself captivated with the story. There were tears of joy, shock, and sadness in this book but all worth it. Easily going on my favourite books shelf.

Holy hell

There are no words. This book was beautifully written and performed. I didn't just hear a story. I was transported into a world where trauma and brutality were real, but beauty and love could still be found for those who looked for it. The ending actually made me tear up. I was left sitting there dumbfounded, not knowing what to do next, because my whole heart was still in the book. It's definitely worth a credit.

A surprisingly deep tale about what makes us human

This has been on my TBR for ages and when I saw it free with Audible plus I downloaded with little fanfare. What a mistake. This story stopped me along the way and made me question the meaning of my life and the implications of its end. Its a surprisingly deep tale aboht what makes us human. The scenes about physical intimacy are well written and continue to ask important questions about the heirachy of needs for conscious beings beyond what is currently perceived. But the real reason I stopped to write my first ever Audible review is found in the final pages. It has the kind of epilogue that not make authors are gutsy enough to write. Worth every penny of my subscription this month.

Beautiful story

A wonderful story of love, loss, good, and evil. It delves into the meaning of humanity & consciousness in a beautiful way.
