Publisher's summary

A world without power grows dark and deadly...

Liam and Hannah continue their dangerous journey, but their every step is dogged by a deadly adversary. Hunted and exhausted, will they have what it takes to get home?

In Fall Creek, Noah struggles to protect his son and his friends. With the town running out of food and fuel and the cold as brutal as ever, they're forced to make compromises that may place them in even greater danger.

When the country goes dark, ordinary people find themselves facing the end of the world as they know it. With society collapsing before their eyes, they'll have to risk everything to protect their home and the people they love.

Edge of Collapse is a gripping EMP apocalyptic thriller series featuring flawed, complex characters, and heart-in-your-throat action. Don't miss the disaster/survival audiobook series perfect for fans of Ryan Schow, Grace Hamilton, Harley Tate, Jack Hunt, and Boyd Craven.

Note: Rated PG-13 for mild language and moderate violence.

civility unravels

This book starts off with Hannah, Noah's wife, and Liam as they try to escape Pike. As the story continues we also join Noah, Quinn, and Milo as their lives with no electricity continues as the frigid winter continues. The evils of human nature continue to unveil themselves in this installment...cracks in certain people's characters are exposed to us while not shown to the other characters. Stone does a great and realistic job of showing what would happen as resources are running low. Also the question of how to handle criminals during this challenging time is brought up-do civil rights go out the window, are we still innocent until proven guilty, and so many more questions arise.

Keep on going!

These people have problems! I think their help is stealing from other communities. The help is murdering people in local communities too. IMO

Kyler stone has another winner

This is the second series I have read by Callister. With every volume she tops her last. Her characters are incredibly realistic no superheroes here just humans with the determination in the drive to survive. The action is nonstop keeping the reader on the edge of their seat. The way she shifts between characters is skillful and smooth.I look forward to reading the next book in the series I can’t wait for her to write another such serious.

Government makes everything worse The Book

After the first book the second book takes a turn down an unexpected path. I can't say I particularly enjoyed Noah, but his perspective is essential as he's a "bad things for good reasons" character
Essentially he exists to show us how good people can slide down a bad path under the idea that ovarall their actions are for a greater good. Pretty much every Government infringement is made and allowed under this belief. I will say I believe he's portrayed a bit TOO good, as if he is innocent of any bad thoughts and just manipulated down his path.
Here we return to Liam and their journey and I will say it adds much needed momentum to the series. The tension between the two groups is very well paced and enjoyable.
Overall I only have a few problems with this series.
The first is the general lack of rebellion or violence from the every day person. It's as if none of these people are armed or know how to defend themselves. They persist in waiting for hand outs and everyone else to take care of things for them and violence is confined to small groups of people.
Small town or not, in a chaotic situation like this with people with kids everyone is going to be doing what they need to do to survive. For sure much more than is portrayed here.
The second issue would be the unbelievability of a Police force maintaining control in this situation using strong arm tactics, intimidation and violence. Friends and neighbors or not, if my kids are starving and you're telling me I'm paying "taxes" during a survival situation, you're getting lead. All of you. Every single one. It's not hard to find where they live and they are blatantly receiving a higher share of the resources than anyone else. There wouldn't be Police or a militia when things got down and dirty if a few weeks on we are at this point over Government over reach at 2 weeks. At the very least the Police/Militia are down a man through injury or death every few days.

Edge of your seat

Edge of Darkness

This is a great read. I find myself unable to put this story down. Kyla Stone is an amazing writer. She does her homework. Military, militia, local law enforcement. And even a harsh winter to add on to all the turmoil. So many interesting and complex characters. Some characters are direct and others will surprise you. Liam and Ghost are my favorite so far. But Noah is not too far behind. The narrator has done a great job through out. I have already recommended this series to my family & friends.
