About this listen

Tessa's life is perfect. She has everything a woman could want: a good job, a family that supports her, and a boyfriend who only ever tries to make her happy. But somehow, even when she has all these things, she feels like her life is empty.

When she lies to Raymond to escape her cut-and-paste life, she meets Beth, a whirlwind of a woman that takes her breath away. Too much alcohol, too little inhibition, and it ends in a night that confuses Tessa and leaves her perfect life a little skewed.

She tries harder to make things work with Raymond, partly out of guilt because of what she's done, and partly because she struggles to change the fact that she's so unhappy when everything in her life tells her not to be.

When she runs into Beth again, and says yes instead of no, her life turns upside down. She doesn't know who she is, what she wants, who she loves anymore. When she loses Raymond, it hurts more than she expected, but why is that a problem when she still has Beth? With so many questions she barrels forward, hoping that somewhere, some of her actions will offer answers.

Clinical

I am not sure if it was the text of the narrator but the emotions came across as very "clinical". Very slot A gets inserted to slot b etc. No passion. There is a night and day difference between the love scenes in this book verses the love scenex in any Provincetown Tales book. Also, after awhile I found the protagonist to be annoying and selfish. Did I listen to them all? Yes. Would I revisit the series? Probably not.

I loved this series

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I could not stop listening. I finished the entire series in two days. I can relate to this series in many ways. Its a must read.

Talented writer who needs a good editor

The first two books and the last book were great. The first two books masterfully bring the reader into the main character's mind, her feelings, insecurities, and confusion. The third and fourth, especially the third, with it's unnecessary hetero kissing and sex scenes, drag on unnecessarily. This didn't serve to make the reader angry at the characters or devastated, it serves to make us angry at the writer. The writer should never be visible unless she's a character in the story as the author. Those parts could have been condensed way down, and the whole series should have been three books.

Amazing

I couldn't stop listening. I had to know what was next. I loved it. Hollie Jackson is a wonderful narrator, too.

Hmmm

I loved how this series was addicting, my only complaint was the references to scissoring.

Vivid Description of Finding Out Who You Are

A series about a woman who is not likable to me. She selfish, self centered and has no idea how to be happy and a whole person. However, she suffers, changes and grows. A brilliant descriptive series about self discovery.

Why Labels?

This book reminded me of why we humans have to feel the approval of others before we can enjoy being HAPPY. We share to much and these books reminds the reader to enjoy the Happy and keep your mouth shut. Glad I heard the entire series, but I look forward to more of this author.
