About this listen

Beautiful, penniless American girl meets handsome, wealthy Scotsman.
Sounds like the beginning of a fairy-tale romance?
It's not.

This story begins with a contract.
And an exchange of money.
A lot of money.

An angel perches nervously on one shoulder.
A devil lounges smugly on my other.
And even that dark little bastard is leery of what I'm doing.

Maxwell Hutcheson wants the girlfriend experience.
All of it.
And I'm going to give it to him.

I'm not supposed to enjoy being his whore.
I'm also not supposed to fall in love with him.
But I do. Both.

When our contract expires, I will walk away.
Because I have to.
But he'll always have a piece of me.

I'll mask my sorrow with a smile.
I'll hide my love with indifference
...all while it's killing me softly.

A fairy-tale romance.
It isn't mine to have.
And this man I've come to love so dearly isn't my happily ever after.

Eighty-One Nights is Book One of two in a duet.

About Eighty-One Nights: While the characters from Eighty-One Nights are entirely new, their storyline is a combination of fresh material and carefully selected themes, scenes, and settings from The Beauty Series, The Sin Trilogy, Dear Agony, and Indulge. This is intentional. I chose some of my favorite elements from previous releases and interjected them into Hutch and Lou's story. Let's call it a "story fusion" between our old favorites and new material.

Perfect No Strings Attached

I love that the main idea from this book is similar to Georgia's Beauty Series but still I loved it. Kurt Crossan and Natalie Easton were really able to capture Max & Cait and their emotions that I felt I was in the book with them. And then Georgia Cates does her magic with her writing. I absolutely loved it.

Not what I expected

I think that I thought that this book was something entirely different. I was expecting a dark storyline, and this was anything but. I might have enjoyed it more if I didn't have that expectation, but I'm not sure. As it is, I was pretty bored by it, but will continue on just to finish the duet.

Phenomenal book

Any book by Georgia Cates is a book you’ll always devour and crave more. Eighty-One Nights is no exception. This story is unique, scorching hot, and consuming. I devoured this story in one day and am desperate for more. It was everything you want in a story and more. The story is so extraordinary and incredibly wonderful I may need to re-read it again ASAP.

Maxwell Hutcheson & Caitriona Brooke Louden

*****Spoiler Alert*****

Audible review. Dual POV. Book 1 of the Beautiful Illusions duet. 11 year age gap paid relationship widower/single father and college student for hire romance. Cliffhanger. The last 26 minutes of the recording is a preview of book 2. Both narrators do a great job with both American and Scottish accents. Trigger warnings: cheating; 2 car accidents; child born to a brain dead mom who had cheated on her husband and had another man's baby; prostitution; attack and stalking by the son of the owner of the escort service.

Caitriona Brooke Louden (22; aka Cat/Lou) was 16 and living in New Orleans when her mom died forcing her to move to Scotland to live with her father and stepmother. Her stepmother convinced her father to kick her out of their home and stop paying for her college tuition 2 semesters short of her degree. She and her roommate worked in a bar where she met her first boyfriend, he cheated on her, she found out her roommate had been working as an escort to make extra money and decided to check it out. Her first night the madame introduced her to Maxwell Hutcheson (33; aka Max/Hutch) who was recently widowed and left with his cheating wife's daughter. He was in the process of filing for divorce before she had a car accident and was left brain dead, not long after she was found to be pregnant. Since none of their friends or family knew of their marital discord and her cheating he chose to keep it a secret. Convinced his family and friends wouldn't approve of him finding a relationship within 6 months of his wife's death he decided to utilize an escort service recommended by his best friend where he met and contracted Lou to "date" him for 81 days. They both fell in love but his wife's sister told Lou she would destroy Maxwell if she didn't get out of his life so she left him. Maxwell tries to find her but doesn't know her real name. JP

Falling in love with an escort

Cait needs money lots of it to pay for college. When her roommate convinces her to work as an escort at Inamorata Cait can’t help but become skeptical since she on a man hating hunt.
At her first Inamorata party Cait meets Hutch a man who wants the girlfriend experience for three months.
Opposed to letting a man into her heart Lou

Narrators:
Natalie Easton was the very talented narrator who gave a performance of both Scottish and American accents. She was the voice of Cait. I enjoyed listening to her accents. I was impressed. She read the scenes word perfectly.
Kurt Crossan was the male narrator who performed Hutch’s Scottish character. He was okay. Personally it’s not his fault I wasn’t swooning over Hutch’s character it was written in a way that satisfied my need to call him a good book boyfriend.

Overall:
I feel like this plot line has been done one too many times. Georgia didn’t offer anything remotely unique in this arrangement. I’ve read it all before. Instant connection, fall in love, time constraint, jealousy, and say goodbye.

It’s a sexually driven story of an arrangement made with the promise of an eighty-one day summer romance. The sex is everything I’ve read before. It’s not an original story in regards to the sexual experience.

Georgia made a point to point out certain aspects of the story, yet left out other details. It lacks consistency.

This book reminds me of the Beauty series. In fact, the premise is almost the same as if a template was used. Strangers meet, both from different countries, visiting for limited time, fall in love, a

Duplicate

I’m disappointed in this book! I really liked the beauty series but this is practically the same book with name and location changes. Instead of offering a 3 month no strings attached relationship he pays half a million pounds for her. Instead of a musician she’s a student. It’s as though she plagiarized her own book. Glad I was able to exchange and get my credit back.
