About this listen

The city of the gods. Elantris once stood as the symbol of all that is beautiful. A sprawling metropolis of unrivaled grandeur, it was a symbol of power and strength, built to be as imposing as it was magnificent.

The only thing more glorious than the city itself was its inhabitants, Godlike beings, with silvery skin and hair of the purest flowing white. Able to create powerful magics with a mere wave of their hands, the Elantrians were able to heal mortal wounds and create any object they desired. To be an Elantrian was to be without sickness, without pain, and without want.

And anyone could become a god. Through a process known as the "Shaod", a normal person could go to bed one night and awake the next morning to throw away the shackles of mortality and become a being of incomparable power and grace. With Elantris as their beacon, the light inside all humanity was allowed to shine, elevating it to new heights.

But Elantris fell...10 years ago.

Performed by James Konicek, Danny Gavigan, Lily Beacon, Richard Rohan, David Coyne, Thomas Penny, Jason Stiles, Thomas Simpson, Tony Nam, Elizabeth Jernigan, Kate Foster, Tim Getman, Sherri Simpson, Mary McGowan, Casie Platt, Jonathan Watkins, Michael Glenn, Eric Messner, Colleen Delany, Sunny Lasskey, Mort Shelby, Terence Aselford, Nanette Savard, Scott McCormick, Andy Clemence, James Lewis, Steven Carpenter, Christopher Graybill, Ken Jackson, Dylan Lynch.

awful background noise

the Foley/background artistry is horrible. it would be good if it didn't overpower the narrator so much. too heavy handed.

Great listen but turn down the background noise

This was really a great story to listen to especially dramatized so well like this with such great characters BUT TURN DOWN THE BACKGROUND NOISE. It was so hard to follow the story with the loud sometimes unnecessary music or background chatter. Especially when some of the background noise is repetitive it is so distracting and almost ruins the whole production. The story is great and layered and another great story from the writer.

Part 2/3 is soooo good

After listening to the first part- I just couldn’t get enough. I started the audiobook with the regular narrator (not graphic audio) but thoroughly enjoyed this!

It was great

I didn't find this one as exciting as the first one. It was good and kept my interest.

Great list

It's a great listen, however, some of the background noise\sound was so loud I couldn't hear the narrator. It would ruin the entire section.

Great story, great performance, one issue

I enjoyed the story and the performance by the actors. However, the background music and sound effect tracks were too loud and often drowned out the narrator’s voice.

Amazing!

Wow,
I am so hooked I have never read an audiobook series like this before. My eyes are not getting any younger, so I do a lot of listening to my books now versus reading and this is amazing. You can literally see the entire story in your head. Whoever came up with this was a genius. I'm about to start the third in your series. Thank you so much, for bringing such joy and entertainment into the lives of others.

Great, Except for

Fantastic acting/reading! The background music and noises sometimes overpowers the voices and takes away from the experience rather than enhancing it. Mostly wonderful and the story is enthralling!

Performance is great

Heard mixed things but the dramatized version was very good, the effects really added to the story, especially at the end. There were only a couple times I thought the background was too loud but overall not bad.
