About this listen

It is the time of the great elven city of Cormanthor, when the Heartlands are home to barbarians, wicked dragons rule the skies, and the elven people trust no one. Wizards and warriors alike threaten their civilization in vain, arrogant, and ignorant quests for glory.

Thus it was that Elminster was guided to Cormanthor, the Towers of Song, where Eltargrim was Coronal. There he dwelt for 12 summers and more, studying with many mighty mages, learning to feel magic and know how it could be bent and directed to his will.... It is recorded that when the Mythal was laid, and Cormanthor became Myth Drannor, Elminster was among those who devised and spun that mighty magic.

not as good as the first book but still interestin

the first book seemed much longer with a fun action packed story. this book was slow with a lot of dialog and some what boring interactions. this is clearly a character building book.

El and the Opening of Myth Drannor to Non-Elves

Through the opening of Myth Drannor to Humans, Dwarves and others we learn more of the life of Elminster and the history of the Realms. The Politics of Elves run very deep as do their hate for non-elves, this story will give you insight to this and more.

Elminster books are weird

The story is just bizarre, but it is at least entertaining.
Reader mispronounces sigil and fungi, using the wrong g in each case. Otherwise, he's fantastic.

I love listening to audio books

Audio books give me an opportunity to catch up on some books that I've been putting off for awhile now.

Love Ed Greenwood

I always enjoy most anything Dungeons & Dragons related but the Elminster series is so fun and always full of so much life and an emotion.

Ed Greenwood is a word master.

I have fallen for Elminster. He is now one of my favorite heros. I wish there was a VR game so I could walk through the same land as the legendary El.

Splendorous Language, Wonderful narration

this is my second listen of this book. the old timey language and marvelous descriptions of magic are truly special in the realm of fantasy novels. the narrator is stunning too, suffusing every syllable with meaning and subtext, and using distinct voices.

Classic Greenwood

Elminster is one of my favorite series of TSR novels and this one continues to deliver the feel and tone of the world of the Forgotten Realms.
