About this listen

After Emily Starr loses her dear father, the ten-year-old orphan is packed off to live with her starched relatives on Prince Edward Island. If only she could relate to them. Frankly, whip-smart, ambitious Emily can’t imagine ever feeling at home at New Moon Farm. Especially when her writerly dreams are routinely dashed by her autocratic aunt. Then Emily finds an outlet for her creative spirit with a group of friends every bit as passionate and gifted as she. With their help, New Moon could start to feel like home after all.

Lucy Maud Montgomery’s semiautobiographical coming-of-age tale is a bittersweet ode to family, friendship, and forging your own path in life.

Revised edition: Previously published as Emily of New Moon, this edition of Emily of New Moon (AmazonClassics Edition) includes editorial revisions.

Delightful

I don’t know what age group this book begins at; however I found it wise, worth quoting and full of flash.

wow!

My knowledge of L.M. Montgomery's work comes from rereading my favorite books from her Anne series every year. Emily is like my beloved Anne of Green Gables but lacking any cheesiness caused by oversimplification of the people. The characters and thier actions in Emily's story represent the humans I know to a much higher degree than in the Anne series. Yet Emily's story is still magical and sweet. I'm looking forward to the next in the series of elvin Emily's adventures.

From Anne to Emily

As a child of the 80's Anne was my friend. In my 30's Emily won my heart with her quick wit and fast thinking. L.M.Montgomery is one of my favorite arthurs.

Better than Anne!

Can’t believe I didn’t know about this book until my 30’s. It’s wonderful. I grew up a fan of Anne but I think I like Emily even better. A classic and I can’t wait for more.

Perfect narrator!!

I love Emily of new room. I’ve read it many times and this was the first time I’ve listened to it. It was perfect.

Glenda Cedarleaf does the 5 star reading

Once you’ve heard a reader truly inhabit the characters, with music even, there’s no going back. Glenda Cedarleaf tells excerpts of this book (and others just as well) as a bedtime story, on the app Insight Timer, absolutely exquisitely. I’d probably have been okay with this narration but I’d not have loved the book so well. Glenda Cedarleaf loves this story so much and understands it so well that one sees right out of Miss Emily’s eyes. Somebody please talk her into reading full books and let her keep all of her special effects.

A favorite story, disappointing narration

Lifetime favorite story, but narrator took much of the life out of it. Narrator lacked understanding of some pronunciations and phrases in the text. Sentences almost all performed with the same cadence. I listened because I love the story, but it was a pale copy of what it could have been.
