About this listen

When Channie Belks moves from her home in the Ozark mountains to a suburban Colorado high school, she tries to hide the fact she's a mage. It might have worked until her parents slapped a chastity curse on her for flirting with "dirty-minded, non-magical, city-boys." She can't even walk by a hot guy without zapping him.

There's a way to break the curse; but one mistake could kill her. It's not worth the risk. Until she meets Josh…a BMX champion with a dazzling smile, washboard abs and the bluest eyes she’s ever seen.

Suddenly, the threat of death isn't such a deal-breaker.

A very fun book

Would you consider the audio edition of Enchantment to be better than the print version?

Yes , Channie's accent is what makes the book but Elizabeth Phillips did a wonderful job with all of the characters in this book. I hope they will us Elizabeth on the rest of the Channie series.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes there where a lot of moments that moved me, the first was when the family dynamics changed between Channie and her family. She stopped letting her parents run her life after they changed her name, But my favorite one was the KISS.

Any additional comments?

If you love a story that grabs you and you can't put it down from the vary first page then this book is for you.

Great Audio Companion to the Book

What made the experience of listening to Enchantment the most enjoyable?

I have already read the entire Channie Series and loved it. I was excited to see that the audiobook had become available. I love that I can revisit the story more readily now that it is in audio. It is so much easier to steal some listening time than some reading time.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Enchantment?

I love all the scenes with the trips. The most memorable to me is when the trips were on the roof and Channie pulled them inside and Josh's astonishment at there being more than one of them.

What does Elizabeth Phillips bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It took me a little while to warm up to her, but that is often the case when I hear new readers. The best thing about her performance, in my opinion, is the accent she uses for Channie. I didn't get that from just reading the book. Though I knew that Channie did have such an accent, my inner voice just refused to use it.

Don't Waste Your Time

How could this possibly have gotten so many high reviews? This book was HORRIBLE. It received an award the Paranormal Platinum Award!!! Seriously?? Maybe the judges had a different version. I wouldn't have even given the book a 1/64 star if that was available. Maybe even negative stars.

The "He Said" "Then She Said" Then He Said" Then She Said" throughout THE ENTIRE BOOK and EVERY conversation. I had to stop reading due to that alone.

Then there was the attempt to make these people into this backwoods, unworldly, uneducated, hillbillies. They go to Walmart, they know what a cell phone is. No one is that out of date. You can't write them so ignorant and uneducated but allow them to have cars. Channie's dad is a gambler! He's been around. You can't write him into this gambler and them make him so that he is so stupid that he knows nothing about the society.

Then there is Channie and Josh. Channie is a self obsessed; it's all about me; absolute brat!!! Josh, I tried to like him, but seriously, the jealousy and tantrums from Channie, there is only so many times you can forgive someone. C'mon Josh, she almost made your cousin have a miscarriage cause she was jealous. Then you chase her across the country cause you love her. Drama! Drama! Drama! The thing is, it wasn't even good teenage drama. It was a constant onslaught of spoiled, tantrum, jealousy drama. Channie and Josh are so self absorbed. It made teenagers out to be sexed craved lunatics that will do anything in order to have sex and, in this instance, to break a curse to have sex.

Then there is all the power names. The magic. The heart of heart. The marriage. I could continue but why, the entire book was horrible. I saw some people say in the reviews that it had potential, still trying to figure out where the potential could be. I wanted to finish listening to the book on principal alone. I finally made it through the book but it took 2 months..... I could only stand listening to a partial chapter at a time. I had to limit myself to listening to about 20 minutes at a time and most times could stomach listening to it no more than 2 - 3 times a week because that was all I could stand.

No I will not be purchasing the next book.

Teenage Magicial Romance Turned Lousy

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This story is obsessed about lust, sex, and orgasms. It might be better if the plot and characters were better developed.

Has Enchantment turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, because not all books in this genre are like this one.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Elizabeth Phillips?

She did an adequate job of reading the story.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Enchantment?

I would have changed the ending a bit.

Any additional comments?

This book as adult themes even though it is geared to teenagers.
