About this listen

One year ago, a young woman checked into a small bed-and-breakfast in the hills of West Virginia. She was never seen again...

Tonight, the Rushmore Inn will host four new guests who bear striking similarities to the woman who disappeared. Like her, they are young and beautiful - Iron Woman athletes preparing for a triathlon. Like her, they were forced to come to this godforsaken place when their hotel overbooked. And like her, they will experience the most terrifying night of their lives. But this year will be different. This time the women are fighting back...

Endurance

From bestselling author J.A. Konrath comes a rollercoaster of terror and suspense, a nightmarish ride into the depths of madness that tests the very limits of human endurance...

EXCELLENT ! ! ! !

Everything about this audio book was fantabulous. :-D

As usual Jack Kilborn does not disappoint with his story or characters. All the appropriate giggles were included as well.

The narrator was fantabulous as well. Christopher Lane kept the narrators voice different than the others so you could always tell the difference. At first I didn't think I'd like his voice them as the story moved on I really came to luv it. He did a great job and I can only hope I can find another great book he narrates.

Narration was very well done. The book became too horror filled for me to listen to and drive.
If you like horror this might be for you. Creeepy!

This book kept me awake!

Would you listen to Endurance again? Why?

It was a great story, with great narration. I'm a truck driver and I've listened to hundreds of books over the years. I drive at night and some nights I have to give up listening to a book because I'm getting sleepy with my mind being steered by a book, even though it might be a good book. Sometimes though, there's a book where the story keeps me awake, and this is one of them.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Endurance?

When Florence shows her mettle.

What about Christopher Lane’s performance did you like?

Great narration...in fact so good I searched and bought another book narrated by him. So far it's looking pretty good too. He did a lot of voices in this one and they were all good.

Holy crap.. wow!

NOT for weak stomachs or faint of heart. This was everything horror I have been looking for! Torture, incest-bred family, the dark primal evil in humans, gore, suspense....omgoodness the suspense!!! I listened through and finished all in one setting. The narrator was PERFECT for every character. The story never lets up, it even has a good ending!!! If you are looking for a dark, twisted, gory, torture filled story keeping you anxiously on the edge at every turn, get this book!!!

Good one

This book rocked my socks.
I read ALOT of books, mostly horror and honestly I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little burnt out on horror recently, this book however revitalized my love of dark literature.
It’s bloody, its funny and it’s full of action and near death experiences.
I love all of the protagonists, they were very well written and full of personality which is always necessary if you want us to care what happens to these people and I definitely did.
JD is my hero, best book dog ever 10/10 would read again.

Twisted but not that far fetched

Any additional comments?

I saw a lot of parallels with American Slavery in this book. There is a lot of cruelty, which I suspect was mainly meant for cheap thrills, but which nevertheless did actually happen to slaves in the southern US. From the torture, to the dehumanization, rape, involvement of whole communities and taking of children it actually is not that far from the mark - just concentrated into a shorter period of time. I enjoyed the book because it was twisted and kept me on the edge of my seat. I disagree with some reviewers who imply that its too over-the-top ... I suspect its not as far from plausible as it may seem, and that's the scariest part of all.

Awesome

This book was amazing. The horror and fast paced action was great. Truly a story of people who go through hell and back. I've bought every Jack Kilborn book he puts out and I will continue to do the same. If you like gruesome horror with and a lot of action then look no further.

I thought the narrator did a great job. His southern style made a lot of the characters really come to life. I have listened to many books where four or five characters sound exactly the same and its hard to know who is who. I could definately tell when each character was speaking. Excellent.

Five stars!

Loved it! Is there a sequel??

I couldn't stop listening to this-- it's definitely a page-turner, and the narrator really sells the story and outdoes himself with the different voices, in a good way. Wonderful characters, especially the grandma, Florence. It's got loads of gore, but that's just part of the charm in this case. Outrageous premise, reminiscent of Wrong Turn and that season of American Horror Story with the creepy backwoods family, but way better than both of those put together. Every time I thought the book was about to fall into a cliche, it outdid itself with a surprise that I hadn't seen coming. The action starts pretty much out of the gate and doesn't let up. Fans of creature features, splatter movies, mutant stories, freakshows, and the like will love this. I know I did! I would read a sequel in a heartbeat, and the end is set up for just that, so JA Konrath if you're reading this, please write one!
