Great poker tool!

I want to start that I was a little skeptical about listening about poker math without seeing the math formulas but was pleasantly surprised at how easy all of the concepts were to follow while I was on a road trip. When I finally get back home I get to put into practice these concepts with a group of friends at out monthly home game.

Concise, interesting and to the point!

It must be hard to write a practical Poker textbook and Alton seems to find the right line between keeping it interesting and simple enough to understand in Audio format. This is a great supplement to my poker books and will be useful for brushing up on the basics on the commute. Narrator was clear and concise.

Great Fundamental Poker Book!

I truly enjoyed this book! Alton makes his books really simple to follow. If you are new, or need a refresher of the fundamentals, this is the book for you! I feel like you can never go wrong with a refresher on the fundamentals no matter how log you have played. I especially liked how he gave you a guide how to process all of the information given, when playing a hand. My most favorite part was him making combinatorics simpler to understand and use at the tables. If you have been struggled with this concept this book should help you wrap your mind around it. Thanks again Alton for another one of your insightful and informative books! Looking forward to the next one...

Essential title for poker players

I'm a recreational poker player and already have a paperback version of this book. It's aimed for recreational and beginner poker players, but other types of players can find it useful.

The material in this book is on point and describes all math required at the tables. It gently and concisely introduces you to how to perform basic and intermediate expected value calculations and utilize card combinations.

As I'm a recreational player, I often return to the material in this book. For me, this book is of great value. I recommend it to you, too.

I like the audible version of this book. The narrator is engaging and concise. If you want to take your game to the next level, this book is for you.

To beat 2nl or play GTO this book is a great foundation.

I’ve read a lot of poker material and before most of it can be applied the math has to be understood. Poker revolves around EV and to understand EV you need to know the math. This book doesn’t focus on strategy or anything else. It is strictly the math. It should be a go to textbook in your poker education.

If you are a new player and looking for where to start this is it. You can’t learn to make profitable decisions without the math behind it. If you don’t like math don’t be intimidated by it. This book makes it very simple and easy to understand. Very easy to read. Has all the essential info needed. Everything is in the right order. Highly recommend it.

Great for anyone who wants to understand

This book is outstanding at explaining the basics of poker math that explains the "why" behind the decisions you should be making in your game! The information is great, but it's best suited to substitute the book or at least to still be listened to somewhere that you can take notes! My problem is I like to listen to podcasts/books on tape in the car, but I like to really focus on this book when it comes to math. I like to have a pencil and paper and work through the logic myself. Definitely recommend both the book and the audible book!
