About this listen

121 years without hope has a soul become silent.

Salem, Massachusetts. The home of magic. The hell of the damned. The place where I rest until the end of time.

There is only one way for me to wake from my coma. My beloved must find me and feed me her blood before I turn to ash. It's a rarity for a vampire to meet his blood mate. I knew when the coma took me, I'd die. In the dark. Alone.

Until Maven Wildes buys my estate. Her presence at the house wakes my spirit. But not my mind.

I want her out of my home more than I want to breathe fresh air. Unfortunately, the infuriating beautiful woman refuses to leave. Yet . . . meeting me revives a lost magic in her veins. And now breathing her in is all I want.

Our love creates power a warlock craves. He'll spill blood to have Maven, but I'll drink his until his heart stops. I will always protect my beloved with my entire being. Even if it means spending my days in eternal night.

Contains mature themes.

Not my fav narrators and it made the story fall flat its a shame too because it seemed like a story I really wanted to finish the series.

It was hard to listen to

I enjoyed the story and the authors version of vampires. I did feel that the spicy scenes became very focused in the last half of the story which don't get me wrong I love a good spicy passionate book however I felt that the main story got lost in between and took away from the ending of the book. I did enjoy the ending and felt like it was a satisfactory ending for the book. Though I felt there could have been more leading up to it. Overall, I liked it. story was good. Spicy scenes were definitely well detailed.

Enjoyed it

This was a amazing book I pray there is a story for his brother. The storyline wasn’t to slow but wasn’t to fast as well it was absolutely amazing.

if your going to base a struggle in Salem at least get the facts right sarah wildes was hung not burned and it's not this small town where everyone knows you also "witches brew" isn't a coffee shop it's a restaurant. the narrators are terrible get a real bostonian

history is inaccurate

I absolutely adore January Rayne and her books. Her stories always keep you coming for more, and the spice is always well balanced with the captivating plot. While the story itself is rich and engaging, the audiobook narration occasionally fell a little flat. Some emotional beats, especially in more intense or intimate moments, lacked the vocal depth needed to fully bring them to life. However, the narrators still managed to keep the pacing smooth and the characters distinguishable, which kept the listening experience enjoyable overall. That being said I will be listening to the whole series and buying the set for my book shelf.

Eternally Obsessed!

I had hope cuz the story line is good but somewhere in there the author lost ability to transition or write emotional transferrence. Definitely DNF’d 58 minutes before it was finished.

1st the story line... the premise of the story was interesting but the author fell VERY short. Examples: Over usage of the term 'Beloved'. The unnecessary gratuitous sex without actually progressing the storyline. This sentence "an uncomfortable silent stretch lasts longer than I'm comfortable with" - Just SERIOUSLY 😒

2nd the narration... while the narrators are horrible they have bouts of not conveying emotions & falling flat on their voice changes & accents.

Interesting story premise that was horribly executed.

The story and characters aren’t fully developed. Leaves a reader/listener wanting. The story has incredible potential with further depth and detail. The characters and their relationships have room to grow, which would make the story even more engaging. As it is now, they have a fantastical/automatic/instant love. Same with the MFC and her magical abilities. She just boom-has powers and then boom can use them with no training/practice.

Narrators- I won’t be listening to either narrators again. Performance was lackluster. Pace and tone were off. Male narrator sounds like he’s being forced to read this. Female narrator sounds like at times she’s trying to do a mid-Atlantic accent and failing. I wouldn’t want to listen to a book performed with that accent executed perfectly, definitely don’t want to listen to it poorly executed.

Good Story Idea, Poorly Executed

I don’t consider myself super picky or a book snob but I couldn’t finish. The story felt rushed and the dialogue immature but even more the female narrator made everything worse. Her style made the one dimensional writing even worse. In the end I gave up

This was a DNF
