About this listen

In this moving sequel to Even Now, Emily Anderson, now 20, is attending college on a soccer scholarship. Then she meets the man who changes everything for her: Army reservist Justin Baker. Their tender relationship, founded on a mutual faith in God and nurtured by their trust and love for each other, proves to be a shining inspiration to everyone they know, especially Emily's reunited birth parents, Lauren Gibbs and Shane Galanter.

Lauren and Shane still struggle to move past their opposing beliefs about war, politics, and faith. Shane believes it's possible; Lauren doesn't. So she says a painful good-bye to her long-ago love and returns to her job as a war correspondent in Afghanistan. Both Lauren and Shane are shattered, believing that this time their relationship may have ended forever.

Then tragedy sends shockwaves through all their lives. Can Lauren and Shane set aside their opposing views so that love, God's love, might win, no matter how great the odds?

I was surprised by the events in this book. But, I was thrilled by the final outcome.

Enjoyed this very much

I love Karen Kingsbury's books and have read them all. Ever After was a real disappointment. To begin with, the reader is terrible. She tries to sound like a man for the male characters and the farther into the book you go, the more grating it becomes. And listening to the book made me feel like I was in a giant advertisement for the Iraq war. Karen - please go back to what you do best - writing about wonderful characters with great stories and leave the lobbying to the politicans.

Not up to Kingsbury's quality

I am one of those listeners that just has to know how it ended no matter what. The story drug out a bit in certain places but overall it was another easy listen and time filler. Not my favorite of Karen Kingsbury but it was good. Still had a hard time with this narrator but managed to get through.

A great story about choices and forgiveness. Great choice for a teenager and for parents of a teen. I will remember this one when my daughter is about the age where she may be getting serious with a boy.

Enjoyable and thoughful

I liked the story and I liked how the reader incorporated different effects. For examnple, if the person was on the phone, it sounded like it. The only thing was that she read so fast with very few stops for effect. It jump from one thought to another and was hard to have my mind keep up.

Great Story, fast reading

A very touching story. Though written 11 years ago, it is so pertinent for today. The reader did a great job with feminist characters, but awful with males. I felt like she made Shane out to be about 90 years old. I lived in the NW for 20 years--at the American Lake VA. Visited Ft Lewis several times. My younger son graduated from PLU, so was fun to be reminded about all those places while now living in MN. My eyes are bad so I can't read what is on box above this one. Sorry.

A touching and very pertinent story for today
