About this listen

The fourth and final part of the Murderbot Diaries series that began with All Systems Red.

Murderbot wasn't programmed to care. So its decision to help the only human who ever showed it respect must be a system glitch, right?

Having traveled the width of the galaxy to unearth details of its own murderous transgressions, as well as those of the GrayCris Corporation, Murderbot is heading home to help Dr. Mensah - its former owner (protector? friend?) - submit evidence that could prevent GrayCris from destroying more colonists in its never-ending quest for profit.

But who's going to believe a SecUnit gone rogue? And what will become of it when it's caught?

Featured Article: The Most Stellar Sci-Fi Authors of All Time

Science fiction is a genre as diverse as you can imagine. There are stories that take place in deep space, often depicting teams exploring or running away from something; stories that focus on life at the most cellular level, such as a pandemic tale; and stories that take place in times that feel similar to our own. Depicting themes of existentialism, philosophy, hubris, and personal and historical trauma, sci-fi has a cadre of topics and moods.

Martha Wells and Kevin R. Free deliver a truly wonderful story. Murderbot is quietly awesome.

I love the whole murderbot series. The sci-fi is awesome, and the personalities and characters are great. The voice performer Kevin is amazing.

Exhilarating

Murderbot's last outing (so far) sees him going to the aid of his "favorite human" Dr. Mensah a leader who has gone missing. And it may be Murderbot's fault.

As ever journeying with Murderbot is a delight. Not for Murderbot, who would still rather be watching media, but for the reader/listener.

Don't miss this great ending to a great series.

A great ending to wonderful series

the final installment is a bit on the short side. But it's worth it. The author doesn't waste your time with a bunch of fluffy or stupid situations that don't make any sense for the characters or locations there's no contrived reasons to extend it out that don't make any sense. It's a good end

I just regret that it had to end.

This has been my favorite audio book series ever
Story is fun and original, and surprising Laugh-out-loud funny
Kevin R. Free does an Excellent job. Perfect voice for the main character; the guy is just a talent

Good Story + Union Actor = Awesome

As many reviewers have noted, the only downside of this series is that each title is so short, more of a novella. I saw one person complain that they didn't want to spend a whole credit on a five-hour book. But think of it this way: the enjoyment is so pure and concentrated that the pleasure-per-credit is not deleted in the least. So it was with great excitement that I got a pre-publication notice for book 5 recently and immediately preordered it. And it's going to be 12 hours long! I can't wait.

In the meantime, I got the entire series from my local library as print books, curious about how the stories read without the totally excellent narration from Kevin Free. The stories are just as good, but still, the narration in the audiobooks adds a whole other dimension of delightfully dry sarcasm.

One of my favorite series

The murderbot books are short but the murderbot is an interesting character. Sometimes the author is heavy handed with one certain characteristic of the not that he would rather watch TV than do anything else, but I still found the books worth a listen

Short and sweet
