About this listen

When David Perry confides the sordid details of his bitter divorce to a sympathetic stranger, he never imagines the nightmare he would unleash. Now his socialite wife is dead, brutally murdered by a man who will stop at nothing to get what he wants…Veteran San Francisco homicide detective Jane Candiotti never allows her personal feelings to interfere with the job - until Jenna Perry is found strangled in the hills of Marin County. Now to uncover the truth, Jane must dig into the secrets of the city's most powerful families, a hunt that will draw her inextricably closer to David and his young daughter…and to the cold-blooded killer stalking their every move.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It kept me interested and it was hard for me to stop reading/listening with immersion reading enabled. I will definitely add this author to my favorites list . I was surprised by the ending and didn't see this coming at all

Narration well done, enjoyable,
Loved the story base of San Francisco, and we'll done prose that allowed you to see the Golden Gate Bridge and its glory.

Good audiobook

The beginning of the story was pretty good. Then just got weird. The conduct of the detective was over the top and unbelievable even in these days where anything goes. A little gratuitous sex now and then.

I did get used to the narrator but it took a while.

I was guessing nearly to the end on the 'who dunnit' aspect. And I didn't see that many choices of possibilities so I was surprised at myself for not figuring it out earlier.

The writing was fine. A little predictable in spots, but entertaining.

I had a terrible problem listening to this book, though. The reader puts inflections on words at the end of the sentences or at other odd places. It's a little bit maddening.

Will listen to the next because I like the author.

Entertaining, but reader is off-putting.

The audio for this sounded like it was read by a synthetic voice or voice piped through auto tune. pretty sure the performer was human, and the performance itself was ok, but really awkward pauses and strange inflection made this a challenge to listen to. less noticeable at higher speed play back but still rather distracting.

reasonably good story, terrible audio

Would you try another book from Clyde Phillips and/or Angela Dawe?

I bought the next book in this series and I still cannot stand the narrator.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Fall From Grace?

The twist

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Angela Dawe?

No!!

Did Fall From Grace inspire you to do anything?

Stop listening to this narrator

Awful Narration!

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

The storyline was very predictable and Jane most be one of the worst cops ever. The narrator was awful and I found myself shaking my head so often at her inflections that I'm amazed I don't have whiplash.

Forced myself to finish

What did you like best about Fall From Grace? What did you like least?

I enjoyed the first section; then the part where the perpetrator becomes obvious was just too unbelievable

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

have a different ending

Any additional comments?

If all the Jane Candiotti books have endings such as this, I will not read more.

First part good, last part too bizarre

Fall From Grace is a good detective novel with a great twist at the end. Unfortunately Angela Dawe's voice is as irritating as the sound of scratching on a blackboard. I seldom downrate a novel due to poor narration, but an exception is appropriate here.

Great twist at the end!
