Publisher's summary

Cassie Madison has it all: A high-powered advertising career; a stylish Manhattan apartment; and a sophisticated, rich, and gorgeous fiancé. It's a far cry from her childhood in Walton, Georgia, home of the annual Kudzu Festival and hot, sticky summers.

And then there are all the bad memories, the heartache. When Cassie's estranged sister calls to say that her father is dying, Cassie knows it's time to set aside her feelings and go home and face the sister she hasn't seen in 15 years.

When her father dies, he leaves the family home to Cassie, who can't wait to get rid of it and get back to New York, her job, and her fiancé, even if it means having a developer tear down the house.

But something keeps her in Walton, and she doesn't know if it's her mending relationship with her sister; the irresistible, aggravating Sam Parker, who wants her to preserve her house; or the feeling of finally being home.

Falling Home

I loved this book. At first I thought it was a little slow. I continued listening and so glad I did! Another great listen from Karen White. Now to On Folly Beach. Thank you!

Loved this! I haven't cried from joy and sadness during a book in years. This was recommended to me and it was definitely memorable. I'm sad now that it's over and will listen to it again.

Not one of her best

I have enjoyed many Karen White books, this one- not so much. The Sound of Glass is one of my favs! I almost returned the book a few times. Cassie was not an enjoyable character!!

Story predictable and sluggish

I liked the story, but found the plot moved too slowly. It was an interesting small town setting. One didn’t have to be a genius to guess the ending-too many foreshadowing hints along the way. I’s say it was a light read and nothing more.

Ho Hum

Sorry, but I found this story slow and it just dragged on and on. The longer I listened to this book, the more I began to dislike Cassie. She was a good person, but I found her to have a weak personality. All through the book everyone kept saying she was afraid. She never stood up for herself and maybe I missed something but I don't think the book ever showed her coming to grips about what she was afraid about. She was gone for 15 years and people acted like they knew her better than she knew herself. For as long as this book lasted, not much depth was put into the characters.

good story

I enjoyed this book almost as much as other books by this author. Not as much intrigue as her others but still a good one. The southern drawl.was quite drawn-out at times. If it bothers you just speed it up

Touching

Excellent story. Excellent reader. I wept through the latter half when Harriet was given her grim diagnosis. My sister has the same diagnosis and I gasped as the plot unfolded!! There is life and there is death and then there is life again. I really enjoy listening to a book without cursing and foul language and deeds. Thank you Karen White.

Too sad...

What made the experience of listening to Falling Home the most enjoyable?

The narration was great and the author created a delightful small town world. I was drawn into the story but dismayed that one of two main characters dies in the book.

Would you recommend Falling Home to your friends? Why or why not?

I would warn friends that they will not feel uplifted by the book.

What does Lyssa Browne bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great characterization.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Death of Harriet had me sobbing.

Any additional comments?

True stories have to have sad moments and I can handle that as real life. But I don't see why the author had to ruin the wonderful world she created by killing off a main character.
