Publisher's summary

Known to the K2 Special Services team as "Saint," Jamie Turner lives by his own strict rules to compensate for his past sins and the two-ton boulder taking residence in his heart. He doesn't drink or smoke. He never swears. And he only dates nice, safe women until he meets Sugar Darling, the fill-in receptionist at K2. She's as sweet as her name, but this wild woman is definitely trouble, with something to hide. He knows he should avoid her.... But can he?

Sugar isn't hiding something - she's hiding everything. And K2 seems like the perfect place to lie low, thanks to the big, protective guys who work there. The drop-dead-handsome Saint makes her heart race, yet he keeps his distance. When Sugar's traumatic past rises up to haunt her again, she desperately turns to Saint for help, and he has to decide what's more important: playing it safe or risking everything for love.

Loved the book!

Sandra Owens is a favorite author of mine. She writes well with great storylines. I can't help getting involved with her characters in each series/book.

Amy McFadden and Mikael Naramore are great narrators! Their performance is well done. Will keep listening/reading.

Falling For Her

Sugar & Saint, to of the quirkiest characters that I loved more with each chapter. They made me laugh, they made me cry. I will remember their story with a smile on my face for quite some time.

Good Story

Is this a multi-part story? No
Does it end in a cliffhanger? No
Genre(s) : Action Romance
Instalove? No
Was cheating involved? Yes (but really no)
Any major triggers to be aware of? Abusive Husband, violent rape (inferred)

3.5 Stars for me!
My rating range of this story... 2 - 4 Stars
If significant, why? The h was beyond unreasonable until the last 10% when dealing with the baddies.
Biggest deduction? 0.5 Stars - the h

Main Character Ratings...
H (Saint) = 7/10
h (Sugar) = 5/10
TSTL Moment(s)? Several by the h, 1 by the H

F (Amy McFadden) = 8/10
If below 5/10, why?

Clean or Fade to Black - 1 or 2
Normal to Descriptive 3-5
Detailed Descriptive Sex - 6-7
Um, Wow, Beyond Descriptive Sex - 8 or above

Was there so much sex or unrealistic sex that you rolled your eyes and/or skipped forward? No

The back story... The h has run away from a psychotic abusive Ex and changed her name to Sugar and is working at a nudie bar. She meets the h through a friend that is married to a member of K2 and is asked to fill in while Barbie is on vacation. The H takes an immediate dislike for the h as he thinks that she is too ditzy.

Romance or Gist: The relationship starts to develop once he realizes that she is much smarter than she portrays and realizes that someone bad is after her.

The drama explosion... The baddy makes his move and things go south.
Did it feel Real, OK or contrived? Ok
Was it OTT? Yes
Separation involved? Not really
Was it resolved properly or rushed? Properly

Final Notes... I liked this story better than the first two and was hopeful that the h would be the smart and strong one in the relationship. She is for the first half of the story but slips into TSTL mode when the baddies come for her and she continuously fights help from professionals. As for the professionals... I don't have much faith in them as their h's always get captured... Please change the formula a bit in future series.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. One thing I believe that the author should change is the desire for rough sex intermixed with rape survivors.

Voices f o the book Falling for Her

I didn't like it when the man imitated the women and visit viscera. The woman sounded like a idiot even after all the truth was out.

Barely OK for me..

Any additional comments?

I read Crazy For Her and Someone Like Her and gave them both 5 stars but I had a hard time with the first 50% of this one. All of it was just about how much Jamie wanted Sugar, but didn’t want to want her. His guilt over the deaths of his parents and his thoughts of how Sugar wouldn’t want him if she knew the truth. And his patience with her over her fear of sex. There was really no excitement or drama or anything that made me want to keep reading it. This story was not nearly as good as the other two. I’m all for sexual tension and sex but this book took it to the extreme.

And, geez, how many books am I going to have to read where a woman is leaving to keep a half-dozen big strong men safe, it’s just ridiculous for a woman to think that. She should have told Jamie and the other men what was going on; instead of thinking she was going to protect them. UGH!

Anyway, I did finish this book but it was just boring until the last 25%. It was good, what happened to Rodney and Sugar’s father, but it wasn’t enough to bring the rating to any more than 3 stars. I’m not sure I’ll continue with this series.

As to the narration: As much as I like the narration in the other two books I didn’t like it with this one. Amy McFadden did a wonderful job but Mikael Naramore wasn’t good at all. Jamie’s voice, overall, was kind of sucky and Sugar’s southern accent was atrocious. Mr. Naramore should not do female accents, ever. Sorry.

I got this book through KU.
