About this listen

The second in the multi-author, post-apocalyptic blockbuster series

Detention camps, curfews, food shortages, and a deadly virus...and that's only the beginning.

America is in turmoil. The running of the country has been completely taken over. Thousands of people have been detained, many still suffering the effects of the bombings, and with no release in sight.

When local farmer, Joe, finds his town overrun with foreign soldiers, he immediately begins to stockpile his produce, preparing for what might come. Workers arrive to take over the running of his farm, but he eventually discovers something more sinister at play.

On the other side of the country, Cal is facing his own problems and must make a difficult decision that could put his life in danger.

There are whispers of a resistance in the air, but what will the cost be?

Could have been better

The first book set a great stage this was bla in comparison….. a bunch of new characters . This is what happens when you have play pass the story. And this is as so short more like half a book.

post nuclear strike on American soil.

I like the series so far. about to go into the 3rd book called "Uprising" has a red dawn feel to it. wouldn't mind seeing this as a show series. This is something that could happen if we aren't vigilant as a country. why we need to stick together and not let either side try to pit us against one another. which is how this story begins.

Why do you keep making us write reviews?

I usually don't know what to say except I really like audible and their titles, but do we always have to write our reviews when rating? The stories are always amazing though.

Annoying narration issues

I stuck with this because I enjoyed the storyline. But as with the first book, the narrator cannot keep his accents/voices straight. Sometimes someone is British or American Southern, and in the same sentence, the accent switches off. Sometimes switches to a Boston accent and then quickly switches to something else. Even if the narrator didn’t realize he was doing this, I’m so confused as to how this wasn’t caught and corrected in production. I hate giving a negative review when the story is actually entertaining and the writing is good. But the accent issues bothered me (and impossible to ignore) throughout the entirety of both books.

Inconsistent Storyline

Book 1 ended with in a mountainside bunker and book 2 switched to that much hyped museum hotel bunker. Would be better to research military especially NATO article 5, but I gave up trying to finish reading book 2

Great continuation after Book-1!

After listening to the first book in the series I was anxious to get on this one. I was not disappointed and am starting the third book on my long drive home from work this evening.
The storyline was great and fun to put myself in the shoes of the characters.
The narration was great too! The ability to add the accents to the characters had to be fun for him.
I am looking forward to the next book!
Note: If you read the other reviews and see them saying they were confused about the storyline, it’s likely they didn’t read/listen to the first book in the series. Read that one first and you won’t be disappointed!
Enjoy! 🤙

death from above. by the way I couldn't get the star for the performance to color in. the reader is excellent.

I'm just a sucker for a good invasion book. China is going to beat us economically not with bullets and bayonets. oh, and by the liberal arts college professors.

Not as good as Book 1

I liked it because it kept my interest. The story itself however wasn’t all that believable. I just didn’t see the world reacting to the story’s events the way described. Like, where was NATO? Where was the US Navy? Where were all the troops stationed overseas? Nobody did anything? It was like the American military machine outside the US suddenly vanished. I thought that was pretty hard to swallow
