About this listen

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

“This novel blindsided me with twists and surprises that had me gasping…and with a poignancy about relationships and love that one rarely finds in the genre. A brilliant, brilliant book.”Jodi Picoult, #1 New York Times bestselling author

From the author of Reese’s Book Club Pick and New York Times bestseller Wrong Place Wrong Time comes an addictive thriller about a new mother’s world upended when her husband commits a terrifying crime. How well does she truly know the man she loves? And what danger does she face if her entire life has been built on a lie?

It is June 21st, the longest day of the year, and new mother Camilla’s life is about to change forever. After months of maternity leave, she will drop her infant daughter off at daycare for the first time and return to her job as a literary agent. Finally. But, when she wakes, her husband Luke isn’t there, and in his place is a cryptic note.

Then it starts. Breaking news: there's a hostage situation developing in London. The police arrive, and tell her Luke is involved. But he isn't a hostage. Her husband - doting father, eternal optimist - is the gunman.

What she does next is crucial. Because only she knows what the note he left behind that morning says...

Famous Last Words is the story of a crime, a marriage, and more secrets than Camilla ever could have imagined. This novel cements Gillian McAllister’s reputation as “the best at putting her characters in impossible situations and making her readers not only contemplate but feel what it would be like to find themselves in those situations.” (Emily Henry)

Twists

This book was extremely well written and edited its an easy five stars. The narrator was superb as well. I actually just thought the story was so amazing it had everything in it like a movie that has you worrying crying laughing and upset it was a great book.

Unique, interesting, loved it.

Well developed characters, interesting plot, perfectly paced. Was getting ready to abandon this genre. Domestic nonsense and reunification of people who committed some atrocity while young, reuniting. A breath of fresh air. A thought out, well done read!

Unrelated Lives Become Intertwined

This was a very interesting story that held my attention. It all revolves around story writing, and good people who do bad things but in the end are redeemed. Narration was very good, but at times I had to go back and listen again, because I was confused about the details. I almost feel that the story needed more editing. It was worth the read and I enjoyed it.

Audio Narration was Good

So - this was good. I was invested and kept going, trying to figure out what was going on with this mystery. Camilla (Cami) could have been any wife that finds out things about her husband, but struggles to align that information with the person she knew, the person she lived with, the person she loved. The reason I didn't this a higher rating was because I felt like the ending came very quickly, trying to wrap up everything. The rest of the story seemed to take quite a while, and then all of a sudden, BOOM, ending, wrap up, it's over. Would have liked to cut some of the earlier parts and enjoy the ending more.

Couldn’t step away from it!

This is one of those wonderful books that lives in your thoughts when you have to step away from it. I couldn’t wait to get back to it, each time. The characters are dimensional, flawed, and believable. The plot keeps you coming back for more. The resolution is one surprise after another. Excellent storytelling!

Great voice acting— really ‘’matched” the character personality

It was a good story, just was not as interesting as the authors previous books.
