About this listen

From award-winning author David Freed, Fangs Out is the second installment in the pulse pounding Cordell Logan series.

Moments before he is executed, the man who killed Hub Walker’s daughter makes a troubling allegation: that the real murderer was Walker’s close friend, an important US defense contractor. Walker—famed Vietnam War veteran and hero-pilot—is looking to hire someone willing to hunt down information that will refute the claim and help restore his friend’s good name. Enter Cordell Logan: civilian flight instructor, would-be Buddhist, and retired military assassin.

Logan takes the job, thinking it will be a bit of a breeze, and an opportunity to rub shoulders with a living legend. But after flying down to San Diego in his beloved Cessna—the Ruptured Duck—he is swiftly pulled into a perplexing and dangerous puzzle. The deeper he digs, the murkier the waters become, and the more dangerous it gets. Who really killed Walker’s daughter, and why? Somebody doesn’t want Logan asking questions—and will stop at nothing to silence him.

Enjoyed, however...

Another top notch story by David. I enjoyed this book almost as much as the first. Only disappointment was the changing of the narrator. Keith was okay but nothing like Ray Porter.

Interesting story

Liked the flying. As a private pilot I enjoyed the way general aviation was portrayed

Never a dull moment.

Good character with death, destruction and Humor. I am enjoy this series, but don't like changing the reader. Did a good job, just not the same guy with a different voice.

Great Story, Bad Narration

Freed did a masterful job once again putting together an incredible story that had me engaged from beginning to end... The problem? I couldn't wait for the end to arrive! Keith Szarabajka's narration, in my opinion, was a flat, dull, mind numbingly boring portrayal of Cordell Logan that I've come accustomed to hearing from Ray Porter.. It reminded me of Walter Cronkite reading a play... He made every single character sound like a 70 yr old stoner who could care less about whatever "intense" moment they were apart of.. It was as though he was reading the book to elementary kids with the way he used his inflections... It was very sad to hear actually... David Freed is a terrific author and the Cordell Logan books are among the best I've read/heard to date.. If it had been Ray Porter on narration this book would've easily gotten 5 stars across the board... Unfortunately that was not the case.. The story was good enough though to pull the horrendous narration along and find a 4 star...

First time that I listened to or read a murder, mystery novel that had me smiling or laughing much of the time. I like his style. The reader was perfect.

Great Story, Narration ruined it

I had a very difficult time listening to this audiobook, I love the storyline and really wanted to be able to get into the narration but the narrator was horrible his voice was without much energy and his raspy horse voice made me think of an old smoker who drink too much whiskey which did not match the main character. He did a horrible job at female voices and definitely has no idea how to do European voices... I did not want to miss book too so I forced myself to listen.

Terrific Writing. Terrific Narration.

Great story, great characters, and a great sense of humor … and tension. Love the plane piloting details, the elderly Jewess, the characters in general. Narration and accents were well done. A new favorite series.
