About this listen

Fatal Vision is the electrifying true story of Dr. Jeffrey MacDonald, the handsome, Princeton-educated physician convicted of savagely slaying his young pregnant wife and two small children, murders he vehemently denies committing.

Best-selling author Joe McGinniss chronicles every aspect of this horrifying and intricate crime and probes the life and psyche of the magnetic, all-American Jeffrey MacDonald, a golden boy who seemed destined to have it all. The result is a penetration to the heart of darkness that enshrouded one of the most complex criminal cases ever to capture the attention of the American public. It is a haunting, stunningly suspenseful work that no listener will be able to forget.

A MUST READ

Excellent! Blackburn's final argument was absolutely outstanding. The reader is left with haunting memories of the victims' precious, short lives and their horrid demise at the hands of their most trusted protector.

Fascinating read (or listen)

I went into this book not knowing much about it. I was born 10 years after the murders occurred and actually found out about the case through a recent podcast Morally Indefensible. But Lord. I definitely made my mind up a few chapters into this. In my opinion Jeff MacDonald is guilty as sin. Yes, the Army and local PD screwed up. Yes his in-laws seemed to be rather flawed. But my God. Dr. MacDonald is such a narcissistic. I get that narcissistic behavior does not make you a murderer. There are plenty of narcissistics out there who have never physically harmed anyone. But it certainly offers a perspective of how someone could do the unthinkable and be convinced he’s not wrong. As George Costanza says “It’s not a lie if you believe it.”

Good listen.

This story has always intrigued me. it is amazi f how much we have learned in the Forensic arts since this time. if the crime scene had been preserved it wouldn't have taken so long to convict him0

Intense

The author did a wonderful job. He brought this story to life. I remember parts of the story, but it was nice to know that the husband was caught at the end. He was very cunning and devious, why didn't he just get a divorce? He made sure he could live the single life without any baggage. Hooray for the father in law.

A Well Drawn Nonfiction Story of a Beyond Shocking Crime

If you’re interested in true crime, I would recommend adding this one to your library. It is thorough and well researched, although a bit too drawn out at 28 hours. A summation would be it details a man who had it all, then lost it all. But I couldn’t feel much sympathy for the main character. In fact, he frustrated me. You won’t be bored with this one! The narration here was also very good.
