Soo good!

I recently found this series completely by accident just looking around for anything to read in the fantasy genre but related to Shadow in the fox. of course due to the kitsune relation this series popped up and I decided to give it a try and I can say the narration is absolutely beautiful with only minimal pronunciation errors and just the right amount of emotion for each scene. The idea of having a dual main character that is also so deeply incorporated with a squad is so cool to see since nowadays that is not as popular with solo main characters who are overpowered being the main trope for most books lately. I feel like the progression has been nice and steady and that there is so much potential that I can't wait to see in the future books.

beautiful continuation

The series introduced me to another genre in the fantasy genre, cultivation fantasy. First reading through it was a breath of fresh air but rereading through the series, the school setting did hinder the story a bit. But now Jia and Eui are adventuring in the forest to find their friend and family. I be honest I was a bit dissapointed by the fact that it follow the same routine of having to practice a new technique every other chapter, but was made up by how suprisingly wholesome the series can be. The characters are just enjoyable to hang out with and the relationship of Jia and Eui is cute and their relationship with their family is comforting and hits me in the heart.

That is not to say there isn't any action, but really the main obstacle was toward the end of the book as many of the enemy are weak in the beginning or there is a deus ex machina in the way. So the tension only get build up towards the end.

Also the new Lion half spirit character is precious and a welcome addition to the group.

As a fan I am a bit dissapointed with what I got compare to the direction I thought it be going, but at the same time happy with it. Plenty of goals from the previous series are met and it suprisingly turn out to be very wholesome and enjoyable listen. Not as epic as I thought it be, but still a great listen.

Comfy and wholesome cultivation adventure

the story is well developed as are the characters. the action and pacing is well managed. the alienness of the elementals is handled well. the story however mostly focuses on world building and main/side character development. there is also a lot of character development which focuses on love interests and political status.

this book does have LGB themes to the point of being forced contrary to cannon via some sort of romance oriented plot armor. Namely, it was established such relationships are shunned, but that is seemingly ignored to the point of being nothing more than a surprise or oddity. the author should remember and represent the realistic issues such relationships would suffer in the cultures presented, such as refusal of service, discrimination in political or military hiring, etc.

good story

This book read great till about 3/4 through. Then it backtracked. I'm not openly opposed as it may progress the story but it's still annoying to see lateral character growth in a volume. Oh there is allusion to progression but we all know that's as unsatisfactory as a wet dream and as annoying as a wet fart. Good job. I'll pick up the next book. However, it will not be priority. I will not follow the author in anticipation.

pretty good

So much happened that is useless or don't make sense. A bunch of nothing.
