Publisher's summary

From Instagram to Facebook, our culture is obsessed with getting and staying "connected". But the truth is, many people are lonelier today than ever before. In a noncommittal society that promises fulfillment and freedom but usually leaves us feeling isolated, many women are asking, "Where is God in my loneliness?" However, as the Bible makes clear, God has a redemptive purpose for our loneliness. Looking at common misconceptions about the causes of and cures for loneliness, seasoned author Lydia Brownback offers encouragement from a biblical perspective. Lifting our gaze upward, this book points women to the only true and lasting remedy: our union with Jesus.

The narration ruined it for me

The content was okay but I would have enjoyed it more if the narration was not so overly theatrical. It was just way too much and felt “sticky”. And the narrator’s “s” sound is hissy. Wish didn’t get this book.

Great but I didn’t realize this was a book for women

The book was great but I didn’t realize it was a book for women. Still had a great message so I finished it anyways. It definitely still had a lot of great advice. So I’m glad I listened and stuck with it.

Excellent book, mediocre narration

Any additional comments?

I have heard Lydia Brownback on podcasts and feel the tone Ann Marie Lee uses to read this book is quite out of character with the author. Ann Marie Lee reads as if she is speaking to young children, and it is quite distracting. The book itself is excellent, but it's difficult to separate the text from the condescending voice reading it.
