About this listen

Nan Kellers is running away from herself. She made a lot of bad decisions, and her most recent one was renting a sailboat with a storm on the horizon. On the brink of death, Nan gets rescued by a strong, gorgeous woman. Maybe, her luck is finally starting to change?

Cass Finnegan lives in a lighthouse with her young daughter Annalee, just trying to get by as a single mother while dodging the judgments of her neighbors. One day, a beautiful woman washes up on the beach. Annalee thinks she's a mermaid, but Cass wonders if there isn't something even more special about her.

An immediate, red-hot passion ignites between Nan and Cass, in spite of the secrets both of them are fighting to keep hidden. But for two scarred women, can love ever win?

Neither of them can hide from their pasts for long. When it all comes crashing down, Annalee is caught in the middle, and the result is far more dangerous than any of them feared.

A modern fairytale

This compelling romance includes poignant current issues as well as a thrilling chase and harrowing rescue. This is a fairytale with both dark and light. Enjoy! I did!
Narrator Sophie Daniels gives a lovely voice to the characters and the story.

Great story

This was a good book for social distance... full of hope and love and drama... well written. Narration was a little monotone but didn’t take away from the story.

Perfect for a work distraction

Huge thank you to narrator Sophie Daniels for the Audible code for this one! I put it to good use, and very quickly I might add. I think I finished this one in under 24 hours.

Nan Kellers has made a lot of bad decisions, mainly using drugs to cope with her life. An actress since childhood, she has decided to take a break post rehab, and her latest in a long line of terrible decisions is taking a sailboat out with a storm looming. When she shipwrecks, she’s rescued by an adorable little girl who thinks she’s a mermaid and her lighthouse keeper mother, who also happens to be incredibly attractive. As the two grow closer together, Nan has to decide if she’s all in and share her past while trying to avoid notoriety in town. Lighthouse keeper Cass has problems of her own and wants to trust Nan but must keep her daughter safe at all costs.

Can we just talk for a minute about how my lifelong dream has always been to be a lighthouse keeper? I mean, I obviously wanted a highly romanticized version of that job, one that involves lots of time for reading and napping with long periods of isolation from others. I never imagine that arduous task of keeping all the moving parts from breaking down and the horrific storms off the coast, but I digress. I loved Cass and kind of wanted to be her.

This one is pretty short, 6.5 hours, but as my gif above implies, it’s back with drama. I LOVE melodrama in my books, which is where I like to keep it, between the pages and out of my life. There’s instant chemistry between Nan and Cass, but there’s a lot of back and forth regarding their feelings and relationships, and Nan’s secret is dragged out a little more than I would have thought, but that’s not necessarily bad. It’s revealed way more dramatically, and for the purposes of the romantic plot, I’m cool with that.

It’s steamy enough, which I am always here for, and Cass’ daughter, Annalee, is too precious. I thought the climax was a little over the top, considering the tone of the rest of the story, but again, I live for the melodrama, so it took me out of the story only slightly, and by then I was invested and here for whatever was going to happen. I kind of like it when things go off the rails, as long as they don’t take too long to get there (looking at you Hereditary and Midsommar).

I really enjoyed Sophie’s narration. She’s got a good voice, and I had no trouble keeping up with the characters. Her little kid voice for Annalee was good, and she switched between that and the adult voices well. The tone was solid, and she kept me with her 100% through all the dramatic parts to the point of ignoring my work for a few minutes there toward the end.

This is my first Marian Snowe book, but Homecoming is on my to read soon list, so keep a look out for that review when I get to it. Finding Her was just what I need during a stressful workday, a light, fluffy romance with plenty of melodrama to keep me interested.

Loved this book

There was action, humor, great characters, an adorable kid, and a believable sweet romance with a touch of angst thrown in for good measure. I will definitely be checking out more books by Marian Snowe. Sophie Daniels did a phenomenal job narrating and I hope to hear her voice narrating many books to come.

Another great book!

This audiobook was good! I thought the Narrator Sophie Daniels was spot on. She carried the storyline and each of its characters flawlessly. I really couldn’t say there was one voice that stuck out or took away from the audiobook.
As for the story... I liked the 3 main characters of Nan, Cass & Annalee and of course how and what brought them together. (Washed ashore mermaid 🧜‍♀️) Once I started listening to it, I realized this book was much more then I thought. You had one characters who’s hiding her demons with past addiction and another hiding her fear of loss and trust. In the middle of all that you have an 8 year old who believes in mermaids and love. Now you add Holly the vindictive ex and all heck breaks loose. I found it hard to stop listening once I really got into it. Which in all reality was from the beginning.
I will say it felt like it took them forever to simply speak there truths. They had many opportunity to do so, but time and time again put it off.
Yet, It wasn’t enough to take away from the story. I would still recommend you giving this a listen. 👍

Surprisingly Amazing

"i was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review"
i usually have a hard time with Marian Snowe books because they lack to intimacy that i normally like in my romance books. but this one was amazing. the narrator was amazing!!! the storyline was something i hadnt read in the past. there was a good amount of romance, and drama with the main characters. for sure one of my favorite from her.
