About this listen

College professor Johanna Marshall swore she would never fall in love again. She especially did not want to become involved with someone who has a reputation as an extreme womanizer...someone like Kelly Sambino.

But on a hot summer night, Jo finds herself unable to resist Kelly. What follows is something Jo would like very much to quickly forget. Embarrassed after their night of passion, Jo hopes she will never have to see Kelly again. Then, when Fall classes begin, Jo finds herself face to face with the college's new Literature Professor - Kelly Sambino.

Will Kelly's charms win Jo over? Will Jo listen to her friends or will she, in a moment of need, follow the stirrings in her heart?

I enjoyed this book a lot but could tell it was older based on the lack of mobile phones and texting and social media. I thought putting this out there would let someone listen without wondering if they missed the setting.

Separating lies from truth has never been sweeter!

OR spicier! Chemistry is a funny thing- it’s hard to see, understand or fully appreciate as a “concept” and it never lives up to the hype until it is fully experienced- both in and out of the bedroom! And then, it knocks you down, lifts you up, shoots you into heaven and brings you back to earth! It’s more that an “A-ha” moment, it’s an Oh my God, didn't know what I was missing, SPARK that ignites a fire across time and space, AND these characters have it! It’s experienced in tiny and big moments and realized with time and trust! Great supporting cast of characters and wonderful narration flesh out the story line. It’s so very tempting to make a joke about the lesbian with her finger in the… lets just say the dam, and when the “dam” breaks, it all comes pouring out in a great HEA! No, not saying another word- you have to read it to get the full story!

One Summer Night 🔥❤️

This one was angsty! Johanna was a mess, but insecurity can really mess with a person. Bless Kelly's heart for being so patient. She took care of Jo, no matter what. They were really hot together... it was spicier than usual🌶🥵🔥

Even with Johanna dealing with her roller coaster of emotions, this was still a good book. I enjoyed it ☺️

A Main Character That….

A main character that is weak and undecided, can only be redeemed by the woman who loves her.
Joanna (Jo) has been burnt by love, and therefore decides she will never fall in love again.
Along comes Kelly, a new instructor at the same college Jo teaches at, and a star softball player on Jo’s friends’ team.
Kelly is gorgeous with a bad girl reputation.
She falls deeply in love with Jo, who pulls her close, then pushes her away. Strong, lovely Kelly always honors whatever way Jo’s mood is taking her. It’s okay to be in love one day, but the next, Jo is telling Kelly she “can’t do this”
I lost count of how many times this push/pull happens. It’s
enough that the character of
Jo becomes extremely unlikeable.
One thing that is a reoccurrence in almost all of Hill’s work,is that the MC’s always have sex immediately after a traumatic event ie: death, assault etc. The sex scenes are almost the same reading every.single. time.
Abby Crayden’s performance and the character of Kelly, kept me plowing through this. If not for them, I wouldn’t have finished.
If repetitive sex scenes, and a whiny, exasperating MC is your jam, then you’ve just found your next great read!

Sweet but Frustrating

This was a good read. The characters were relatable but Kelly’s character could have been developed more. She had so much depth but needed more backstory. It would have been more heartwarming if her perspective had been told more.

Great author

I love all of Gerri Hill’s books. I love Abby as the narrator. I feel like I’m right there with the characters, watching everything unfold. I’ve listened to all of them several times. My only complaint is some of them aren’t longer.

Listen to your heart and not your friends

This is a sweet story about how one horrible relationship almost ruins the chance of happiness and love. Kelly and Jo are meant to be from that very first dance. Jo has a friend with her own personal agenda and fills Jo's head with untruths about Kelly. This makes it hard for Jo to see that Kelly is not her no good cheating ex. The intimate scenes are written well and will leave your heart beating a little faster. Abby Craden's narration is amazing and brings the story to life. I find myself searching out books she has narrated more and more. I really like the length of the book, bit it does get a little repetitive with Jo's indecisiveness about her feelings for Kelly. With that being said, I've still read this book multiple times and listening has made it a favorite again. The author Gerri Hill is amazing. I'll continue reading or listening to everything she puts out.
