About this listen
On Halloween night, 13-year-old Ruby disappears in the company of a masked figure. She is never seen again. The only witness is Nell Montague, who is just seven years old.
Twenty-three years later, Nell is trapped in an abusive relationship and still suffering from vivid nightmares of what she saw. When tragedy strikes, she escapes and attempts to put her past behind her. Then, 13-year-old Emily disappears.
Haunted by increasingly disturbing visions and helped by a reluctant psychic, Nell must unravel the mystery of what really happened that night, because to save Emily she must first find Ruby. But to do so she will question everything she thought she knew about her own childhood and soon discovers that nightmares don’t always end when you wake up.

Story
In the spirit of Zoë Heller’s Notes on a Scandal and Tom Perrotta’s Mrs. Fletcher, an explosive and thought-provoking novel about the far-reaching repercussions of an illicit relationship between a young girl and a man 20 years her senior. Masterfully told from three diverse viewpoints - victim, perpetrator, and witness - Putney is a subtle and enormously powerful novel about consent, agency, and what we tell ourselves to justify what we do, and what others do to us.

Seraphine Mayes and her twin brother, Danny, were born in the middle of summer at their family's estate on the Norfolk coast. Within hours of their birth, their mother threw herself from the cliffs, the au pair fled, and the village thrilled with whispers of dark cloaks, changelings, and the aloof couple who drew a young nanny into their inner circle.

Finding Ruby
This was a really good book. Nell has problems, she has a lousy boyfriend and her grandmother just died. She has bad dreams about a girl she thinks was made up by her dad.SHe has a lot to discover. Phillip Rose was a terrific narrator. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

How Much More Can She Take
Nell Montague has her world turned upside down, as her beloved nana passes away and leaves her feeling alone and deserted, even though she has an abusive boyfriend, Gary, that leaves her with low self esteem. Even though she no longer has her nana, her nana left her quite a bit of assets, that Nell had no idea was even available to her. With the excess funds, she is able to leave her abusive relationship with Gary and move out to one of the properties nana had left her. With her being able to focus on herself, she can remember her dreams about Ruby and what happened to her and why it actually happened. The key she found that night, she had no idea went to the basement where Ruby was put away at and ultimately died at.
I loved the ending about Ruby's father and it gave a nice twist to this great story.

Fabulous Mystery! Very well done!
Nell Montague has nightmares. Vivid disturbing nightmares about a young girl named Ruby. But are they really just nightmares or are they visions? Nell needs to find out and fast because now, twenty three years later, she is “seeing” another missing girl and there just might be a connection! Finding Ruby is a fast paced, engrossing mystery thriller that grabbed me from the opening lines and held my attention until the end of the jaw dropping epilogue! Leaving no loose ends, and nothing unexplained, I throughly enjoyed the ride! The characters are diverse, varied, very well developed and span the full spectrum of likability adding interest and a very realistic feel to the story. The narration was very well done and made listening a pleasure. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and love how it all came together in the end, and that epilogue? WOW! I did not see that coming! Brilliant. Five fabulous stars! I loved it!

Amazing!
This was a great read. Nell was an awesome character and it was really interesting to find out if her nightmares were just dreams or not. The epilogue at the end was really great too!

Wasn’t the greatest…
I found this book hard to want to continue listening to. I think for me what made it a struggle was that the narrator used his own normal voice for the female lead and then his own normal voice for male characters and it made it hard to figure out who was taking. Which was confusing…
