About this listen

Four ruthless men. A virgin mafia princess to unite them. But first, there will be blood.

On my 17th birthday, I learn a terrible secret about my family. My future is in the hands of four brutal men, and what awaits me at their hands is too terrible to imagine. Four men who desire me. Four men who vow to possess me. Four men who think they can destroy me.

As the only daughter of Coldlake’s mayor, I should be kept far, far out of their reach. Instead, I’m being thrown to them as a sacrifice. My father insists only one of them can marry me, but all of them vow to secure my promise. A promise in blood.

They take. I bleed. Happy birthday to me.

Author’s note: First Comes Blood is the first book in the Promised in Blood series and ends on a cliff-hanger. These books contain dark themes, violence, and a romance with one woman and four ruthlessly possessive men where she never has to choose. The story is dark, dirty, and delicious, so please listen at your discretion.

If you are looking for heroes turn around now. I like dark books and books where the guys are a little mean. These guys didn’t just cross the line they demolished it. I still don’t know how I feel about them because honestly I hated them most of the book BUT at the end things come to light and I’m starting to feel different about them. I won’t know until the next book is out and I will definitely be continuing the series. The 4 guys are all different but they have the same goal. Chiara is young and it showed. She frustrated me and I had to remind that she was a sheltered 17 year old.

Narration was amazing! This is my second books by these narrators.

Wicked.

This gets off to a frustrating start—and I don’t mean the book. I mean the FMC’s situation. What a P.O.S. her father is! And the action and drama that come immediately… (no spoilers).

Incredibly fast-paced, this book gripped me from the start and didn’t let me go. It’s full of alphaholes, criminals, corruption, so much injustice … but then it manages to be surprising at times as well. The characters are well-developed and the world works.

Some of the spicy scenes were hot, while others felt a little implausible at times. Overall though, I’d say pretty much well done on this front.

Ends on a wicked cliffhanger, and I love every moment of it. Would love to read on in this series and explore anything else the author has written.

4 stars.

Audio—
Features a dual cast that manages to sound like a full cast, both of whom are excellent at performing and pleasant to listen to. Epic. Perfectly smooth production as well.

A Mafia Reverse Harem Romance

First Comes Blood by Lilith Vincent is a mafia reverse harem romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Maeve York and Walker Williams. This is the first book in the Promised in Blood series.

This is the second book of Lilith's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I loved that we got Chiara, Salvatore, Vinicius, Cassius, and Lorenzo's points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

The book ended on a great cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait for the next book in the series Second Comes War to be released on audio so I can get more of their story.

Walker and Maeve did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like dark romances, mafia romances, reverse harem romances, or romantic suspense.

Deliciously dark men, all slightly unhinged 😈

I haven’t read or listened to anything from this author before and I will say this one took a bit for me to get into but by the end I was enjoying it and want book 2 on audio already because I need to know what happens!! This is definitely a darker RH contemporary, some things are frustrating and some are hard to read/listen to because of the subject - the way people are treated, the villains, deaths (especially with the mafia aspect) but the story was gripping and I am intrigued to see where the author takes it next.

I liked how complicated the guys were and how they make it a MF for the mafia princess essentially. We get their reasoning for some things (definitely the loss they have all suffered is gut wrenching) and we get to see more of their personalities. I will say one in particular was very confusing and didnt deserve Chiara (I have no clue if I am spelling that right since I listened to the audiobook haha) despite having some adorable moments. I thought the side characters were a great addition to this story: to Salvatore’s sister, her mom, her 3 new besties after her childhood one ditched her. I thought the author did a good job writing a horrible villain (her dad) and these 4 anti-heroes pretty much haha that arent “good guys” but hopefully will treat their girl right by the end of this trilogy.

I think for me one of the reasons I couldnt give it a 5 stars was I didnt connect with Chiara. She was all over the place. I had to keep reminding myself of her age and the age of the guys (I will say it was a little off for me that they all wanted to jump her when she had just turned 17 and some are twice her age if I got that right. Like I am all for age gap but this made me feel uncomfortable I think with how they treated her so quickly). I thought Chiara had some good moments, I liked her finally coming into her own somewhat with her sexuality, but again she one second would almost love one and then the next hate their guts. The guys didnt help the situation either, but it just reminded me how much of a child she still is and wasn’t mature enough to be with these older, darker guys if that made sense. I mean I just rolled my eyes at some of her antics and moved on, I still enjoyed the unpredictability and how I hope the mayor gets what he deserves.

The narration I thought was good. The female narrator did a good job with all of Chiara’s ups and downs. She did fine with the guy voices but it would have been been amazing if this had been duet narration because she is stronger as the female characters only. I thought the male narrator did a great job with all the accents and personalities he had to pull out of his arsenal. One of the guys had a harsher accent (sometimes he went from more of a hispanic accent to Italian, which sort of confusing), so I had to lower the speed to understand him fully. I thought Lorenzo’s portrayal was the best, made his unhinged moments super believable and made me nervous for Chiara haha. Overall 4 stars for the narration!

That ending thoooooo. What a killer!! I hope book 2 won’t be long to get on audio ❤️

It’s okay

It has potential in the beginning but as I continue it lost the appeal. There’s no chemistry between each character and the more they are mean to her the more she’s listed after them. Her mind doesn’t matched her action. Maeve and Walkers did an excellent job at narrating

I read this book for the first first time about a year ago and loved it! So I was thrilled when I learned that it was available on audiobook so I could do a reread while working. I loved it just as much the second time around!

Chiara lives a charmed life as the daughter of the mayor but that all changes in her 17th birthday when four handsome but dangerous men show up to her birthday dinner and her efathers tells her that by the end of the evening she will be engaged to one of them and married shortly after she turns 18. That evening ends in tragedy and she is soon engaged to Salvatore. Everything changes again on the day of her wedding when she is thrust even further into a dark and dangerous world.

Poor Chiara was so blindsided by the changes in her life and even though she was young and sheltered, she wasn’t dumb. Things might not have worked out the ways she was hoping most of the time but she was a quick thinker and never gave up.

I really liked the guys and it was so much fun watching them slowly fall under her spell. I loved how Cas was actually kind and caring despite pretending otherwise. He was always the first to comfort Chiara. Lorenzo was the absolutely unhinged with zero boundaries and I loved him for that. Vinicius is the charmer who throws her off her game. Salvatore was the most ambitious and incredibly possessive.

Holy cow that cliffhanger! Even on the reread it caught me by surprise. I can’t wait for the next book to be released on audiobook so I can continue.

I loved how Walker Williams had four distinct voices for the guys. I wish there were more chapters from the guys’ POV but hopefully in the next books!

I mostly enjoyed Maeve York’s narration and I thought she did a wonderful job of bribing Chiara to life. But I felt her voice for Cas sounded more like Dracula and less like an Italian which I found pretty distracting.

First Comes Blood

This is the first book in the Promised In Blood series. This is my second Lilith Vincent. I really enjoy her writing style. This is a dark romance. Chiara is the daughter of the Mayor. On her seventh birthday she finds out her father is not the kind Mayor everyone believes him to be. He is more corrupt and ruthless then she ever imagined. She gets told that on her eighteenth birthday she will become engaged and a week later married, to one of the four most dangerous men in town. These men are all publicly known for not being the most upstanding citizens. This book ends on a huge cliffhanger. Maeve York and Walker Williams do a phenomenal job narrating this book with all the accents.
