Anna is at a stage of her life when she's beginning to wonder who she really is. She has separated from her husband, her daughter is all grown up, and her mother - the only parent who raised her - is dead. Story
The Poisonwood Bible is a story told by the wife and four daughters of Nathan Price, a fierce, evangelical Baptist who takes his family and mission to the Belgian Congo in 1959. They carry with them everything they believe they will need from home, but soon find that all of it - from garden seeds to Scripture - is calamitously transformed on African soil. What follows is a suspenseful epic of one family’s tragic undoing and remarkable reconstruction over the course of three decades in postcolonial Africa.

Story
There are approximately 3,712 ways for a guy to look stupid during pregnancy-this book's here to help you avoid all (most) of them. And here's your first hint: Focus on what you can be doing for her rather than what's happening to her. She's pregnant. She knows that. You know that. And her one 152 baby books tell her exactly what she can expect. Your job is to learn what you can do between the stick turning blue and the drive to the delivery room to make the next nine months go as smoothly as possible.

Why do some children thrive and others struggle? The answers may surprise you. New research indicates that the seeds for adult success are actually planted in the toddler years. Dr. Tovah Klein's research and firsthand work with thousands of toddlers explains why the toddler brain is best suited to laying the foundation for success. Dr. Klein reveals the new science behind drivers such as resilience, self-reliance, self-regulation, and empathy that are more critical to success than simple intelligence.

Story
For many women in their 20s and 30s, the greatest professional hurdle they'll need to overcome has little to do with their work life. The most focused, confident, and ambitious women can find themselves derailed by a tiny little thing: a new baby. While more workplaces are espousing family-friendly cultures, women are still subject to a "parenting penalty", and high-profile conflicts between parenting and the workplace are all over the news, from the controversy over companies covering the costs of egg freezing to the debate over parental leave and child care inspired by Mark Zuckerberg's two-month paternity leave.

The inequity of domestic life is one of the most profound and perplexing conundrums of our time. In an era of seemingly unprecedented feminist activism, enlightenment, and change, data shows that one area of gender inequality stubbornly remains: the unequal amount of parental work that falls on women, no matter their class or professional status.

Good Info, Narration Trouble
I really did like a lot of the encouragement in this book. Some gems stood out that I can tell will mean a lot to me as a new dad. I don't like giving critical reviews, but this issue just kept happening.
I can’t understand what happened in some of the narrating. Or at least why someone didn’t catch it before releasing this audiobook. Either the script being read was bad, or the narrator would misread something. I’m sure I would stumble every now and then if it were me narrating, but the point would be to do another take on that section before releasing the audio.
Some of the phrasing is strange so you can’t understand what he’s saying. Also, some of the words are just wrong. For instance, in the section on the importance of delegation, he states, “you can’t do anything.” I am sure that the correct phrase here would be, “you can’t do everything.”
Another example. One section header advised dads to “love conditionally” ... after replaying a couple times I realized, no, they meant “love unconditionally.” Another spot mis-quoted the phrase as, “do I state, not as I do” (leaving out the word AS, “do AS I state, not as I do”).
Overall it was a decent listen, I just found myself confused in more than a few moments due to this issue, having to rewind and de-code. I eventually just had to put the book down.

There are definitely some common sense, you’ll fig
It had good tips and it was well written, however the author refers to your baby as "she" and "her". If you have a girl then it will just seem natural. But I had a boy and it was very distracting. I wouldn't recommend that they him or he, but rather change it to "it" or "the baby" to keep it more universal, no mater what gender the child is.

Review of the Good Father
This book was too disJointed. Kept switching characters and stories from one chapter to the other very hard to follow. I’m going to go back and read it from the beginning and see if I can do better the second time but actually I don’t think I would recommend it.

Heartachingly good....
As a mother, painful to listen to, but I admire and respect a good father. I was so scared for this father and daughter I was afraid to finish the story, but in the end it was worth it. I loved the narrators and the story was well read. Through all the heartache, I did finally take a deep breath and smile in the end.

Simply Said
The introduction to characters was a bit confusing but once you finally understand, it all becomes quite impressive. The story has so many emotions and a beautiful set of personalities. The narrator's were brilliant. It's a short story, you can't put down. I finished it in 3 night's.

great info but not narrator
No narrator's monotone delivery made it difficult for me to actually get into and pay attention to the information. So I did a lot of re-listening as I went along. However, this book gave some great info nuggets as it went on. This made it worth my time.

Poor Quality
This book may be great, but due to the poor recording quality and narrator I can’t continue to listen to it. I should have listened to a sample before wasting a credit.
