Publisher's summary

Take the guesswork out of tucking your baby away for the night with the ultimate guide to sleep training for babies.

Learning how to get a baby to sleep when they're supposed to might just be one of the most difficult and least glamorous aspects of parenting. Getting them to sleep soundly through the night so you can, too, is just trying like to solve a Rubik's cube blindfolded.

If you're tired of being waking up in the morning groggy with bags under your eyes, courtesy of your little bundle of joy; if you would like to say goodbye to sleepless nights and dog days and hello to nights of blissful uninterrupted sleep for yourself and your baby, then this guide is for you.

In this insightful guide, Lisa Sheppard condenses her years of experience dealing with babies and toddlers into a concise roadmap for effectively sleep training your baby and getting them to sleep like, well, a baby!

Unlike other guides that tout a generic method of sleep training babies that is often not applicable to your own situation, this guide will show you how to overcome your own unique challenges when sleep-training your baby.

Here's what you're going to uncover in Baby Sleep Training:

  • Everything you need to know about sleep training and understanding baby sleep patterns
  • Surefire sleep training techniques that will help your kids fall asleep at the right time
  • The connection between attachment parenting and sleep training
  • Common problems with sleep training and how to solve them
  • A step-by-step guide to sleep training your baby and adjusting for your own unique situation
  • How to mimic the feeling of the womb
  • How to help your baby sleep through painful teething periods
  • Keeping bedwetting and soggy bed sheets under control
  • And tons more!

Even if you're a new parent or someone that's new to childcare, this guide will save you a lot of headaches trying to figure it out on your own. Sleep training may not be easy, but it doesn't have to be scary!

I'm so glad so bought the book!

I'm so glad so bought the book! It goes into much more detail and specifics than the website. Alexis is quirky and fun and understanding and reading her book have been a joy to me. I love how she continues to empower parents to make choices that are best for their family. She doesn't make you feel bad or shameful. Would recommend this book to every parent who is struggling with sleep issues concerning kids!

I fully give this book credit with helping my son

I fully give this book credit with helping my sons to be such good sleepers. By starting outlaying a good foundation from the beginning and being mindful to avoid sleep associations, bedtime is my favorite part of the day!! My 2 year old loves his bed and my 4 months old sleeps at least 10 hours straight through. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to have a happy independent sleeper!

Loved this book.

Loved this book. The book listens to it in a way that’s funny and relatable while at the same time basing her advice from research. My toddler asks to go to bed!

I recommend this book to anyone with a baby

I recommend this book to anyone with a baby. My daughter screamed when we tried putting her in the crib. From 4-7 months she slept attached to me, which left me feeling like a tired zombie. Our goal was literally to get her to sleep in her crib (which was next to our bed). It took 1 night of using the techniques from this book to get her comfortably in her crib, no crying! Every other book or article I listen suggested either letting baby cry or supplementing with formula to fill her up. I was so thankful this book took a different approach and actually provided gentle sleep training options!

The book to get if you want to sleep

Such a phenomenal help along with the corresponding FB group. My daughter has been sleeping through the night since 4 months. Lots of help and not exclusively cry it out! Discusses instilling healthy sleep habits. Save your sanity and buy this book

The book website and funny, honest,

The book website and funny, honest, and warm style got me through some of my darkest days as a new mom with a baby who NEVER slept and cried all the time, and helped me to not feel guilty about trying out different sleep training methods (which finally worked, ohmygod, and my 5-year-old is not traumatized, but a happy, well-adjusted, good sleeper). I give this book to every new mom I care about.

ecommend this book in a heartbeat!

This book is the first thing I recommend to any new parent. I listen to it during a stage of serious sleep deprivation and desperation while my daughter was going through a rough sleep regression at 4 months. We started implementing SLIP slowly by taking away sleep crutches and establishing a bedtime routine then committed to full sleep training just before 6 months.

This book is tremendously helpful

This book is tremendously helpful. I had no idea that my son wasn’t waking up 6 to 7 times every night because he was hungry, but because that’s the only way he knew to fall back asleep. The people who give this book bad reviews because they don’t like cry it out clearly didn’t listen to the section about cry it out. If you follow your child’s circadian rhythm, cry it out is perfectly safe and helpful for most babies. My only critique is the author isn’t nearly as funny as she thinks she is, and I wish there were solutions for what to do when your baby stands in the crib but maybe there isn’t an answer for that.

Helping this mom stay sane!

Purchased at 4 am with a screaming 3-month-old. 100% best baby book purchase out of the dozens I have bought as a new mom. I was able to immediately determine the cause of our sleep issue and had my son on a regular sleep schedule within a couple of weeks. I have been able to refer back to it at the first hint of new sleep issues to determine causes and have successfully maintained a regular sleep schedule. My son slept through the night at 6 months and easily transitioned from 3 to 2 naps a day. He is now 8 months old and we parents have our brains back. Thank you, thank you, for listen to this book!!!
