Excellent guidebook for Moms of Boys!

As soon as I finished it I wanted to start it over and listen again! It's so very timely with so much practical advice and encouragement for moms during those difficult pulling away years.

A go-to book for mothers with a son of any age

I cannot put into words how amazing this book is. I think this is the best parenting book I ever have. I know I will go back to this book every now and then as my son grows.

Nice, but nothing groundbreaking

I liked that it had Christian elements and encouragement, but I think I was wanting more facts and information. A lot of the content seemed obvious. The narrator's voice was super robotic and creepy.

Useful but too religious

This was a nice and helpful guide until it turned into a damn bible study. That really turned me off. But there are nice insights and ideas for the parenting journey. Also, the narrator was a bit robotic. She kind of sounds like Siri. Other than that, if you don’t mind the nearly evangelical foregrounding towards the middle, it’s a quality book.

Boy mom? Get this book!

I wish this book had been handed to me when my first son was born (granted, it wasn't around then). I am a single mom to two boys and I love how I didn't feel excluded from the intended audience...usually religious relationship/parenting books are skewed entirely towards marrieds. Right off the bat I felt like this book was useful to me, even though my boys are now 22 and 17! It was kind of like receiving guidance from a Titus 2 woman, which is something I have desperately needed in my life for years. The narration was excellently done and made the book easy to get through.

some good pointers to ponder

the narrator was fine. there were some really good pointers in the book about how to handle your son as a mother at different points in time. What I didn't like about the book is that it was very preachy and full of religious quotes and stories from the Bible. When I read what the book was going to be about there was nothing religious in it. However, when I started listening to it there are many Many religious references and I do not practice Christianity so I just had to fast forward through it which took away from the book as a whole. So if you're not particularly religious this book might not be for you. I also notice that the author made references to Great Men in history talking about George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and other past presidents that were slave owners. She used them as a reference to look at when it came to character. I totally disagreed with these examples and it turned me off from the book a bit. Overall there was some good pointers and some good questions to ponder but it's not a book that I'll be reading again . in order for me to read this book again it would have to be more culturally appropriate and sensitive as well as spiritually sensitive so that people who don't practice Christianity don't feel left out.
