Publisher's summary

For high-school senior Celeste Watkins, every day is a brutal test of bravery. And Celeste is scared. Alienated because she's too smart, her speech too affected, her social skills too far outside the norm, she seems to have no choice but to retreat into isolation. But college could set her free, right? If she can make it through this grueling senior year, then maybe. If she can just find that one person to throw her a lifeline, then maybe, just maybe. Justin Milano, a college sophomore with his own set of quirks, could be that person to pull her from a world of solitude. To rescue her - that is, if she'll let him. Together, they may work. Together, they may save each other. And together they may also save another couple - two people Celeste knows are absolutely, positively flat-out in love. Whether you were charmed by Celeste in Flat-Out Love or are meeting her for the first time, this book is a joyous celebration of differences, about battling private wars that rage in our heads and in our hearts, and - very much so - this is a story about first love.

Joyful

Full of joy, love and kindness. Two of the most unique characters. So special to me because I have a son with asperger's. Jessica Park and Tavia Gilbert nailed it.

Did not disappoint.

This book was great. I wished Celeste story was drawn out a little bit longer because I really grew to love and relate to her. No spoilers here, but the ending nearly had me in tears. I am glad Matt and Julie were incorporated, because they ultimately made me love this story.

I truly love this fabulous set of characters. Each one with little quarks. Jessica Park does a wonderful job in tell this story of love, pain, growth, and repair. Tavia does a wonderful job of capturing each characters personality. I enjoyed every second and I hope we will get more of this flat out wonderful series of books.

I don’t want it to be over.

I feel like these characters have been in my head for two weeks (listened to Flat Out Love last week)and like they are my friends. I don’t know what I am going to do with myself now that it’s over!

Beautiful story with a powerful narration

What made the experience of listening to Flat-Out Celeste the most enjoyable?

I've listened to quite a few audiobooks lately and the narrator of Flat-Out Celeste, Tavia Gilbert, is much better than most I've listened to. It takes real skill to not just read a book, but to also act out the story and use different voices to differentiate between the characters, and she does it to perfection. I actually cried at three different parts of the story, so that really says something powerful about the narration.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was Celeste. She's been through so much in her life and dealt with many family issues and tragedies. She also struggles with social awkwardness. The beauty of the story is her ability to overcome all of this and to finally fit in, along with finding love.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was near the end, between Matt and Julie. I don't want to give it away, but it was so heartwarming and emotional.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely! I listened mostly in my car during my 2 hour daily commute, but near the end I plugged in at my desk at work because I couldn't shut it off.

Any additional comments?

I HIGHLY recommend this audiobook and narrator!
