What happens when a New York City matchmaker gets herself matched … with a man in uniform no less? Come along and find out!

April is the hottest matchmaker in Manhattan. She is completely content helping others find love and is in no rush to find a match of her own. But when she is forced into attending a bachelor auction, she has no idea that she’s about to be the winning bidder of Bachelor #22.

Robbie is the city’s hottest fireman. The calendar he’s in even proclaimed it. A title he can’t seem to live down and is growing to detest. Women all over Manhattan throw themselves at him without a care in the world. He liked it at first, but now he’s struggling with feeling used. The last thing he wants to do is participate in a bachelor auction—even if it is for a good cause.

She doesn’t want to go out with him. And he couldn’t agree more. But they’re not allowed to say no. Now what?

Cute little palette cleanser

I needed a short listen for a round trip drive and this was a great little palette cleanser. Short and sweet and I love hearing J.F. Harding perform a story.

Rushed, but still mostly fun

This series is all over the place for me, in part because the whole “holiday romance” gimmick usually stops with the punny title. Case in point, there’s no pranskter or April Fools plot here. Instead, the girl is literally named April. 🙄 Given that there’s a book about Spring’s second chance, starring, you guessed it, a girl named Spring, these novellas often feel like a lazy money grab, throwing some stuff up on the board without bothering to fill in enough story to make me care.

Also, in every book, this author signals a guy’s attraction by having him go caveman and not wanting what’s his to wear sexy clothes in public, often before she’s actually his. Objectification isn’t sexy to me.

Series rants aside, this was one of the better novellas because there’s some humor and some oil-N-vinegar energy going on. I also appreciated the toned down cussing. This was decent as a free listen, but it doesn’t exactly have me clamoring to purchase anything from this author.

short story

I felt I know it's a short story but I felt like I was just dropped into the middle of a long exerpt from a long novel. very little character building just thrust into it kind of cheesy

Horrendous

This book is just awefull. This book is simply poorly write. There are sentices that do not make sense, many words that misused, "facts" that are just blatenly wrong. Worst of all are the characters. They are just dispicable. The woman thinks because she owns a company the mistreatment of other women isn't her concern and don't bother her. However being the independent woman is she spends the whole book trails behind a disgusting misogynist that hasn't shown her an ounce or respect or kindness like a little lost lamb. The leading man refuses to dare women because he rather just F@$& them once and leave them but, HATES all women because they only see him as attractive and not dating material!?!? WTF
