Dulcie O'Neil thought her luck couldn't get much worse but it's about to get a whole lot worse. Forced into declaring war against the Netherworld and her father, Dulcie will find herself fighting for everything she believes in. In the process, she'll have to decide whether or not to trust a centuries old vampire, a decision which literally will mean life or death. Luckily she's got hunky love interest, Knightley Vander, by her side but things get even stickier when she finds herself the subject of multiple affection of men.

Editorial reviews

H. P. Mallory concludes her Dulcie O'Neil series in grand fashion, as the hardboiled heroine of the title declares war against the Netherworld and with it, her father. Once again joined by her devilishly delectable beau Knightly Vander, the flirtatious fairy Dulcie simmers with sultry - frequently sadomasochistic - sensuality, and finds herself chased by multiple male suitors. As Dulcie and Knightley lead The Resistance into battle, they quickly discover that friends and enemies aren't all they appear. Actress Therese Plummer delivers delightful role playing, as she lends her voice to woeful warlocks and voracious vampires. As the tougher-than-nails protagonist, Plummer is spot on, imbuing Dulcie with a personality all at once sassy, sarcastic, and cravenly sexual.

Imaginative

The author has your mind engaged from page one! The reader must pay attention or lose the new thread of the story. Many characters and several important interlocking plots lead up to a grand climax. It should be rated as not for children....sexually explicit. This book is sixth in an imaginative series.

A Wonderful Ending

Its a lovely, all be it, predictable ending. I enjoyed the pacing and especially the attention to each character arch being addressed.

It got me

I dont often write reviews but I wanted to say a little something about this one. I've been listening to the series, and I enjoy it. It's fun and sexy and it offers a fun escape for my hour long commutes as of late.
What got me about this book however was how it totally struck a cord with me, emotionally. The ending of this one had me tearing up, and without spoilers let me just say that for anyone who has ever lost someone close to their heart, this moment near the end will get you too. It was very well preformed, and I'll keep coming back to see whats next for Dulcie.

Therese Plummer!!!!

Would you listen to For Whom the Spell Tolls again? Why?

I love H.P. Mallory's books. This series is great but what sets it apart is Terese Plummer. I have listened to a lot of books on tape and she is by far the best voice I've ever heard!! She can really make her voice sound like a mans voice! For a lot of female narrators it's hard to do. Her own voice is to die for. She gave it such sex appeal. I really felt like she was Dulcie.

What about Therese Plummer’s performance did you like?

Hands down the best narrator!!!

Same book different title.

Extremely redundant. Dulce’s volatile relationship with Knight. Knight’s constant jealousy of Bram and Bram’s inappropriate sexual harassment if dulce are all getting extremely old by book 6. Extremely frustrating that there’s no depth to the characters. And when did Sam get a Hispanic accent? I hate when narrators change things up half way through a series.

Disappointing

What disappointed you about For Whom the Spell Tolls?

I loved all her other books in this series so I was so disappointed to read this one and find it had turned in to soft porn. It didn't even match up to the prevues book properly .

What was most disappointing about H.P. Mallory’s story?

It felt like she just rushed this one out. And I was really looking forward to it as well. I loved the story line up until this book ruined it. Shame.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator was great. I always like it when they keep the same one for a whole series. Respect.

What character would you cut from For Whom the Spell Tolls?

The characters where all fun. The story line blows.

Any additional comments?

I really felt ripped off with this ending to such a fantastic series. I think she lost interest in writing it. Such a shame. Love all the others in this series. If she rewrote it I would buy the new version hoping she did it some Justice.

Porn.

There is A LOT OF SEX in this book. That's not true. There is a lot of TALKING ABOUT SEX in this book. I am not a prude, I understand that there was sex in the rest of the story, but with all of the EPIC WAR going on, there seemed to be much more love and not a lot of war.
