About this listen

A BATTLE FOR THE SOUL OF HAUNTED LOS ANGELES

Why did Cecil B. DeMille really bury the Pharaoh's Palace set after he filmed The Ten Commandments in 1923? Fugitives Sebastian Vickery and Ingrid Castine find themselves plunged into the supernatural secrets of Los Angeles - from Satanic indie movies of the '60s, to the unqiet La Brea Tar Pits at midnight, to the haunted Sunken City off the coast of San Pedro...pursued by a Silicon Valley guru who is determined to incorporate their souls into the creation of a new and predatory World God.

Truly unique way to approach a story...and I will avoid speaking to ghosts in complete sentences.

Always unique

This is another great story from Tim Powers. Following some of the same characters from 'Alternate Routes' it is a great adventure. l recommend it highly.

Another great read

How to review this book? Or Alternate Routes, for that matter? These are my first Powers books and they are...weird. But good! Ish. One has to be able to suspend belief at the beginning, but once you allow yourself to do so, it’s possible to just soak in all the weirdness for an enjoyable experience.

An unusual series
